Walter, even though it's too cold t to do anything right now, you can anticipate walking around this weekend.  Go on and tell the Men just how dismal NJ really is.  I know that you live about 100 miles north of me ( as that proverbial crow flies ) yet you also live in an area that has it's fair share of farms.  NJ is still the Garden State.  I believe it deserves that moniker.  It can't qualify as the Farm State even though there are hundreds of small farms in NJ.

.An out of stater may be impressed by that until they learn th full story.  In the way that wealthier Americans ( Note that I'm not calling them rich) can avoid paying higher taxes by being lumped in with small business as far as Federal tax laws are concerned, NJ has a similar law regarding farms.  In NJ, you can have your property declared a Farm (my simplistic understanding) if you do some sort of farming on that acreage.  Some of the most common farming methods are having a "vineyard--I've seen many that are an acre or less--,raising alpacas, growing small fields of organic crops.  If you farm, the acreage that is involved in the actual farming is taxed as farmland.  That is why you may hear of NJ professional athletes living on "Farms"  The can live on a 20 acre spread in an expensive neighborhood and only have to pay regular town tax on 1/4 acre where their house sits.  The rest is taxed as farmland if they live in an area zoned for farms.

So, until you can actually go outside, imagine yourself out for a walk among the farms of NW NJ.  I know you do live in an area where there are real horse farms.  Part of the reason for their being so many horse farms in north and south NJ is that it is the closest pasture land to the major horse racetracks in the area.  Northwest NJ has The Meadowlands, Queens NY has the

Belmont, plus there are many other smaller tracks.

Although not in your area, Donald Trump and friends have estates in Somerset, Hunterdon, and Morris counties where they still have fox hunts and steeplechases.  So, dream of warmer weather and your outdoor activities.  Dream in detail and you will be motivated to do something to start exercising.  You might just want to get on a treadmill and imagine yourself walking along a road near those farms.  You may have only been able to drive by in the past, so now you can anticipate walking or riding a bicycle there.

Good Luck as it might make it ino the 40s this weekend!  Bob

i have a farm with a small herd of cows in the back 7 and wood lot for fire wood heat ,it cost more in maintaining the farm than the tax break. the farm is always at a loss.

Congrats on your wonderful progress!  How often do you eat the 1.5 cup, and what happens if you eat more than 1.5 cups?

Good new, Walter. I haven't been on here much the last year or so. Can't remember, butI thought you had surgery before.

Definitely get out and walk if you can. Walking isn't the most strenuous exercise in the world but an M.D friend told me that it helps give you that momentum to help you feel like you want to "keep going."  Evidently the more strenuous exercise does, too but it peaks and then "troughs" you.

Happy New Year,

Dave

My doc said the surgery was like operating on a bowl of spaghetti... Walking helped to settle everything once the surgery was done  :D

Bob put his foot in his mouth again.    Talk about eating the wrong snacks.

I'm truly sorry.  Happy New Year.  Bob
