What is YOUR goal for 2011????
I know for many of you who have just started on your WL journey, the obvious goal is to get the weight off and reach that weight goal you and your doc have agreed to.
For those of us who have achieved our weight loss goal, we need a "new" goal. For some it may be to maintain at that goal weight you've achieved. For others, perhaps an exercise goal or target.
One of the keys to success is to set reasonable and attainable goals. But, they can be 'stretch' goals that you have to work for.
Another key, is sharing the goal with others who can both encourage you and help hold you accountable. That is one of the greatest things about this Men's Forum. We all get encouragement and support from each other, and then have some accountability to the group.
So...What is YOUR goal for 2011???
Mine - Maintain my weight at my 195 target weight AND run a Marathon. I am now training for the Grand Rapids Metro Health Marathon scheduled for October 16, 2011.
Good Luck and God's speed in reaching and attaining your goal in 2011. Mike

I usually don't make goals which is why I am usually floundering throughout life. I'm in no hurry to go anywhere. I was going to say that I don't really want to do anything either but I realize there is something I want to do this summer. And it will entail some physical activity and discipline on my part.
Long before I had my WLS and before my weight exceeded my kayak's weight limit, I used to love going out and doing fla****er kayaking. That entails Kayaking on ponds, small lakes, bays, and fairly calm rivers and streams. I've done it enough to be wary of tidal streams--if you are on them at the wrong time, the force of the tide can be as bad as a strong current.
I had a tandem kayak with an open ****pit--not a sit on top (SOT) which had a weight capacity of 450 lbs. The rear seat could be moved on built in rails to accommodate a single heavy paddler. I had to give it up when I exceeded the weight limit.
Later the next year my cousin was looking for a small fishing boat and I loaned ( or gave ) him mine. Now I'm at a weight where I'd like to go out on it again. My cousin called me in Nov and said he's not using it and wanted to know what I wanted to do with it. I told him I'd like it back but I asked him to hold onto it until the spring since it's much too cold to use anyway.
I'm assuming I could straddle it and plop down into it. I just don't know because of my size and because my knees are in far worse shape than they used to be. Plus, I now have severe swelling in my right thigh due to lymphedema.
I know I'd be better getting myself psyched up to hopefully use it rather than get defeated by negative thoughts that I can't do it. So, my one goal will involve strength training, cardio, correcting my diet, and adjusting my mental attitude.
I live less than 20 mile from the Federally protected Pine Barrens in NJ. They are only "barren" in that they were not suitable for normal crops. They do support huge blueberry and cranberry farms as well as many vineyards.
I can hardly wait to be on my boat in the still summer morning air at about 5:00 am. Bob

Not necessarily in this order but a few things come to mind:
Keep the job that I have and not get pissed off, too much, dealing with the small town politics that I have to deal with.
Getting Norma moved over here and her finding a decent CPA gig.
Look into getting plastics done.

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!
To hopefully reach my WLS goal. Other than that

For 2011,
Get approved for RNY and have it done this spring... Hit my personal target of 220lbs (not sure if it'll be my doctors or not yet, but it's my target... Probably unrealistic by Christmas Time, but I'm not too worried about it)
Play a LOT more hockey this fall...
Make a LOT more love :D
Perhaps kayaking or rock climbing... Something previously 'out of reach'.
Happy Holidays!
Make a LOT more love :D
Be careful I have a feeling this is why I am expecting a new addition to my family next year.
