8 Month Surgiversary
Like Christmas, today kinda crept up on me. I just posted a message to a friend and when I thought about the date, I realized today, 12/19/2010 is my 8 month Surgiversary!
WOW! What a difference a year makes. A year ago at this time, I was at my highest weight ever. When I went to the Dr in January and got on the scale I was at 287. Now, as I look at pictures from last year, i think I may have actually been a little bigger and heavier...but I guess I'll never know.
As I've posted already, I hit my goal of 195 on 12/7/2010, yea Pearl Harbor Day...A day that will live in infamy now has a entire new meaning for me.
Yesterday, I ran 8 miles. This is the longest I've ever ran in my life! Last year at this time, I got winded getting my butt out-a the barco and waddling to the fridge for more Christmas goodies...Since it took so much effort, I usually ate twice as much as I should have! LOL
To all you "stalkers" who haven't posted yet, but are thinking about WLS...GO FOR IT...Come here often for knowledge, encouragement, and support. To you "newbies" join in posting...share you questions and stories...this is how we support each other. And to you veterans who were here and posting before I joined...THANK YOU!!! Keep it up...your support and encouragement means more than you may ever know.
As we rapidly approach these great holiday weekends, do take time to enjoy them and the true meaning of the season. Spend time with those you love. Keep working on your health, it is the greatest gift you can give them!
And God Bless Us Every One!

It's amazing at the progress you've made in just 8 months!!
I always enjoy reading your posts because they have great info and are always positive. And, the fact that you're now running 8 miles and training for a marathon is amazing. It's like you're creating a new life for yourself.
Congrats.

Don, you truly have "paid it forward". For all the inspiration the "veterans" gave you, you've certainly passed it on to us neophytes. For me, it's only been a couple of months since I was gasping and wheezing my way out of the (appropriately named) LaZboy to waddle to the fridge for a "snack". Thanks to guys like you, Herc, Cabin, and all the Dons who shared their journey, I realized that this surgery could completely change my life. I'm so glad I found this site, and all of you guys who have helped me so much along the way. This morning I actually jogged for the first time in probably 20 years! I hope that in 6 more months, I'm running 8 miles... That would be completely awesome!
