"How'd you do it?"

"I've taken up anorexia..."

But really, how do you guys deal with the question from people you haven't seen in a while and don't know about your surgery?  I had a couple incidents with this yesterday, and went at it with a humorous angle and followed up by telling them about my surgery.

Seemed to 'fit' for me.  Just wondering what other methods there are, and what you've succeeded with.

The other option is "I am on hunger strike until breast implants are covered under Obama Care!"

Pretty much handle it the way you do but if they rebut with the "...you took the easy way out..." bull**** I have a hard time keeping my size 7's planted on the ground.  They tend to want to migrate towards somebody's ass.

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

My first response is the very polite, "thank you, and how are you doing."  Trying to change the subject.

If they persist, my next is my usual smart ass reply is, "No, its not lost.  I know exactly where it went."

From then It really depends on who it is.  If it is someone I know, can trust, and is a "friend" I may tell the whole story or I use the "diet, exercise, small portions, high protein, low carb...blah, blah, blah".

There are many, who I know would benefit from WLS, I tell the whole story to try to encourage.

There are some "jerks" like the ones Don referenced, who are ignorant asses.  I have the same problem with my size 10's and their asses that they usually speak out of...To those I am prone to say, "It really is none of you frick'n business.  Have a nice day!  Smile"

Bottom line, this is YOUR journey, and YOUR story.  You choose to say what you want to whom you want.

This has happened to me a lot lately.  When they keep asking, i try to detour from the question, and just say, "Yes, i've been trying to lose weight" , then they'll say, well it shows, then my next line is "REALLY?".  That usually ends the conversation for me pretty quickly.
