Sleeved...and happy with my decision.
Hey Guys,
I am sleeved, home and feeling much better. The surgery was a success and thank you for the prayers and well wishes.
I never realized how much air I swallowed when I drink. Man, that was a painful learning experience. I do have a question regarding pain. I don't have much pain in my stomach, but when my stomach growls, the pain can be excruciating... it was really bad in recovery and ICU. It has lessen, but it still hurts when it growls. Does the stomach growling go away? I'm drinking a 1/2 cup of broth with unjury every time it starts.

I'm certainly not an expert on the sleeve (heck, I'm not an expert at anything!), but I wonder if you still have a drainage tube in place? If so, that could be part of it...
I came home with one for a week, and while it was in there, every time my stomach did anything (including growling, hick-uping, or whatever) I had pretty intense pain. When they removed the drain, that first inch gave me a HUGE pain (worst I'd had in the entire process), and then it stopped completely. My PA said the drain sits next to the liver, between it and the stomach, and that it might have been pressing "a bit" on the liver. Ya think? All I know is once it was out, my pain level went to near zero, and I was able to ride comfortably in the car, walking was much easier, etc. Even sleeping on my side was do-able.
But to answer your direct question - No, the stomach growling probably won't go away completely for a while, but it should stop hurting pretty soon. A 1/2 cup of broth sounds like a lot to me for only a few days after surgery, but I had RNY (not the sleeve) and I know your physiology is much different than mine... If you're worried enough to ask the questions here, you should call your surgeon's office and ask them. The PA at my surgeon's office is great, and she takes it as a good sign when you call with questions - it means you're trying to do things right, and follow the plan.
Glad to have you join us on the loser's bench. Welcome to the roller coaster ride that is post-WLS!

I was so glad I didn’t have to go home with that drainage tube my doc removed the drainage tube while I was in the hospital, but I did feel a lot better after they removed it. I plan on talking to my nutritionist about being able to take in ½ cup of broth, in all our sessions I as told I would be able to get in ¼ cup. I’ve never been a fan of roller coaster, but I am completely up for this ride!!
At first it was very loud. Others could definately hear. I would say after about two months the growling went away.
Even today...If I lay on my stomach or apply pressure to it I can hear the growling. But it's not a problem for me anymore.
When my stomach growled there was never any pain associated with it. It was just a bit embarrasing when others would hear.

Agree with Jim's advice, check with your surgeon or team...with the sleeve it may be different than us RNYers...I know the first few weeks, there was some discomfort as everything inside was getting re-adjusted. I still occasionally have loud growls, but no pain. i do get some pretty wicked gas that causes some rumbles that can be heard...that's usually my sign to head Don's advise, get to the john, and "NEVER TRUST A FART!" See how you've mentored so many of us Don!
Really glad all is going well for you. Take it easy and one step at a time!
