Hi Guys.....
well I am home- and officially on the bench!

Surgery was Tue- Dr. said it was a perfect procedure- everything went great- liver was nice and small and outta the way....recovery was a lil difficult as we could not get my pain under control.....
Wed the catheter came out and my bladder has stopped working due to the painkillers-- had some med and finally peed a little.  Had to cut back on the pain med as it was causing the problem.  Wed rest and walk- Wed night- BAD BAD gas pains....up from midnight until 6am walking the halls...not much relief but it moved-- had a lil accident....oops.....but EVERYONE was great.....Thur afternoon late came home.....gas again all day today and lots of watery stool....but feeling good.....showered today brushed teeth and have been sipping lots.....all is GREAT!!

thanks for your support and prayers......

Owosso - Glad to hear you are home and doing well.  Didn't that shower feel good!!  The gas thing is a pain, but one we all 'pass' through (bad pun).  To quote our friend Dan 'never trust a fart', especially these next several days/weeks as you continue to heal up and "firm" up.

Don't be afraid to take some pain meds to stay ahead of it, but do watch the bladder related issue.  The more you sip water and walk will help with that as well.

Keep up the great progress and WELCOME to the Loser's Bench!  Mike

It'll just keep getting better and better.  Best of luck to you in your life's journey.

Learning to swim was easy.  The hard part was getting out of that burlap sack.  Those rocks were heavy.

Ah, yes...  The gas...  Remember it like it was yesterday.  Oh wait!  It was yesterday, and the day before, and the one before that...    It really DOES get better, and I find that GasX helps a lot.  Keep sipping, and walking...  Do what your DOC and NUT tell you, and remain patient.  The pain gets better soon (mine got about 1000% better when they took the drain out), and you'll soon be able to drink more than a sip at a time.  I found room temperature water was actually harder to drink than cold things or hot tea.  I also found mixing diet (sugar free) juice and water 50/50 made it more appealing.  I also mixed that juice with my Isopure ready-to-drink to make it a bit more palletable.

We're all pulling for you, and scooting over to make more room on the loser's bench.  (Get's easier now that we're all a bit skinnier - LOL)

Thanks guys--
Jim the urinary problem is pretty much over-- peeing normal and with the amount of water I am getting it is nice n light....

Jim- I too am watering down all drinks- LOVE decaf ice tea (sweetened of course) - but mostly just drinking water.....I mean sipping--LOL

Gas is mostly over- still there but no where near as bad as yesterday-  Biggest concern is I cannot stand to drink my diabetashield.....NUT said to try and do my dext- but funny thing is I drank some of my wifes b4 surgery to try it and liked it - thought YAY no problem.....but now it is not working- makes me nauseaus- and even watered down is not good.....trying it frozen tonight-- we will see-
Nurse said biggest thing is to not get dehydrated - and so far at leas****er is going in real easy....so I will focus on that....oh and I love my chic broth --LOL- 3-4 oz is a nice lunch and dinner--

my preference is cold....warm I can do but not as easy.......

Glad you're home and on your way to a full recovery. Isn't it great to have it over??

You mentioned in your last post that your NUT was really encouraging you to NOT get dehydrated. One of the other posters here (Crazy Joe) did get dehydrated and ended up with kidney stones. You really don't want to run that risk.

Anxious to follow your progress.

Gas and bloating was the most bothersome aspect of recovery in the first few weeks. It gets better. Welcome and good luck.
