I try to be supportive and positive
A fairly young man posted last night and I responded quickly because I wanted him to have a quick reply. I tend to be anxious, and I wondered if I had given him the right response. I don't normally deal with younger people--I don't have any children and my nephews and nieces are in their late teens to early thirties. I just don''t see them that often and we almost don't speak the same language when I e-mail them. I'm interested in them, but I do have trouble relating to them. And, they are close relatives.
So, I wondered how my remarks would have been received. Well, apparently, everything was taken the way it was meant.
I try to tailor my response to the individual post. If I don't think my response would help other men, sometimes I'll just Contact the person who made the original post. And, I don't even remember what the early post-op routine was like. Yeah, I've been reading about it for years, but I do believe that responses from men who have recently experience that situation are most helpful to the newbies. They can help each other.
