Well guys i went to weigh in today and only lost 3 pounds, i know i am going to stall or slow down but it seems to early to stall with how much i have to lose, i mean come on i still weigh over 400 and only 4 weeks out. I was hoping to be under 420 to hit the 100 pound mark since i started this program. I didnt think it would bother me when i came to this point but it is, now i am going to double up on my workouts and go 2 - 3 times a day. ITS ON LIKE DONKEY KONG NOW!!!! next week i will lose more then 6 pounds... GRRR sorry just needed to vent.

You are not going to lose weight at a steady pace.  Your weight loss will more likely resemble going down the jagged edges of a saw.  However, over time, you will see a steady decrease in weight in the first 18 mos post-op.  After that, you can continue to lose weight like any other overweight person, but the uniques abilities of your "tool" won't be as apparent.  Weight loss will be slower in time.  Part of that is simple math:  You need higher caloric intake to simply maintain a higher weight.  As your weight decreases you need less calories and the amount of caloric difference between what you need and what you consume decreases.  I hope that's not too confusing.  It's easier to say that you'll lose more weight on the same food plan when you are heavier.

Try to weigh yourself less frequently if you think you are having a stall.  You know that you are doing everything correctly and will continue to lose  weight.  Don't let the scale become a false god.

Also, I'd advise against increasing your exercise routine at this point.  Don't double it;  rather, gradually increase it over time.  You may start setting up standards for yourself that you simply can't meet.  Then, you are likely to give up entirely and really become pissed.

I'm going through the same thing. I keep wanting to see the scale drop a couple pounds a day, and it's not happening. Some days it goes up!! UGH!

However, YOU'RE DOWN ALMOST 100 POUNDS?!?!?!?!? Holy #@&!.
That's incredible. and over 50lbs since surgery! Great work, and stay positive.

Yep, you will have to get used to stalls and slow downs or you'll go insane. As early out as you are , doubling the workouts will do nothing. Your still going to stall no matter what ...... it's part of it. Your going to have them where you will lose nothing for 2 to 3 weeks and then lose 15 pounds the next. You just gotta roll with it.

Be a good WLS patient and BE PATIENT!!!!  Be sure to read CABIN's repost on this forum it is a great one and really helps explain some of the stalls and slow-downs.

FYI - while exercise is GREAT and we all need to be regularly exercising, increasing your exercise often results in a stall or even a gain, as you increase muscle.

Rather than doubling up the work outs to 2-3 per day, try increasing the time you spend on one good workout.

Hang in there!

I feel the same way Jeff, but someone told me a few days ago, this isn't a race or sprint, So i keep trying to tell myself to be patient.

Hey Jeff-
THREE pounds is just that THREE pounds - and that is to be celebrated.....if I know one thing when I was losing weight on a diet- I would loose 3 one week and 7 the next! - your body does what it can.....also someone put it right about exercise-- if you are increasing that would create more muscle and muscle delays weight lose......
You are doing great- just stay focused......
