Major WOW moment

So I've been working out like a fiend, (aerobics, Spinning, biking) and decided to start training for a mini Triathlon sometime in the summer. I guess that's when they have them.

So I went for my first run/jog in 25 years.
I did 3 miles non-stop !!!!

This is huge as I haven't ran since I was in the Air Force. And I always hated running.

And the funny thing was, I wasn't even tired. My legs, feet, knees, nothing bothered me. Even my wind was OK.

My mindset was just make it to that house, then make it to that tree, that Stop sign. Etc.

Of course I'm a little sore today in the hips, but that's to be expected.

But anyway, this was huge for me!

CONGRATS!  I know exactly what you are writing about.  I too have started running again and feel the same way.  I actually miss the days I don't run now.

Take a look at the OH Health and Fitness Forum.  There is a message board there, like the Men's Forum.  I am getting a lot of help and inspiration there.

I am training for a 25K in May, then a Full Marathon next October.  There are some great training programs and resources on-line.  Like a said above, I miss my run on my Rest Days...but know it is important to have the rest days so I don't injure myself.

Good Luck and keep us posted on your progress!

I bet you must have froze your butt off.  I have a friend from LI who took his adult son to see the Eagles on Th night.  I think that they are still defrosting.  I know that my brother runs in the cold but I simply can't stand the cold.  My brother, Tom, ran the Philly marathon last month.  He said he was okay during the run but felt like a ton of bricks had hit him the next day.

I suggest that you occasionally go to the Fitness and Exercise Forum and explain your progress and desires there.  There are several men there who are in various stages of acclimating themselves with that type of exercise.  They may be able to give you training advice.

I keep coming back to the Men's Forum and it's my main source of support at OH, but I do look at other Forums.  You may be helped by other forums too.  Once you get off the Main Forum, you tend to get away from the female issues.  However, I've recently noted that's starting to creep into the RNY forum.
