So I am in the home stretch...next Tue is my day- and I am starting to feel the nerves....funny thing is I am not at all worried about the actual "procedure" (RnY)- very confident in my Dr and his team- not even really worried about life "after"....I just do not want to go through the 3 days after surgery.....my wife just had hers a lil over 2 weeks ago and she did great but obviously I saw here go through all the recovery- so it is fresh in my mind.....
I know its just nerves- but man I really wish tonight was next Thur and I was all done.....LOL
well thanks for listening......

What you are feeling is very normal and something everyone of us has been through...and we survived!  Us this as a "mind" game to prepare for "worse case scenario"...then when you are through it, and it wasn't so bad, you'll look back and say, "it was a piece of cake."  Ok maybe "piece of cake" is a bad cliche for us food addicts but you get what I mean.

Take it one step at a time.  Do what your Dr and team tell you.  It is great that your wife has already gone through this and will be there to help and support you.

Be sure to keep us all posted on your progress and ask the questions...thats what this forum is here for and there is so much good advice and knowledge to be found here.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers on Tuesday...All the Best!  Mike

Like Mike said it is normal to feel this way as the date draws closer.  You and your Mrs. are on similar journeys but they aren't the same.  Statistically men tend to lose weight faster than women do!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

My sleeve procedure is next Friday and my nerves are showing!  This pre-op diet isn't helping either!  Let the mind games begin!

Hang tough with the liquids.  Remember it is much better and easier on your surgeon and ultimately you, if you've lost pre-op...it shrinks the liver and gives the doc 'room to manuver'...it also helps you get somewhat used to what your first few weeks will be like post-op...hang in there!

I think I am doing ok with loss- at my highest 8 months ago I was 285.  I started July at 271.  In September when I first met with the surgeon I was 257 and today I am 237.  He likes you to loose 10% of your body weight prior to surgery or within 6 months...I am at 12.5%  !!!  probably will shave off a few more over the weekend here....so I am hoping the surgery goes smoothly......
