What the F**** I loose 67 pounds and my left knee starts hurting, like an 8-9  Go to the Orthopod and they say X ray shows the right one has more arthritus then the hurting left one.  Go figure...

Did not fall, did not twist, just hurts like hell cannnot walk on it (easily) cannot sleep on EITHER side, only flat on back.

Been doing the bike instead of walking as I knew the treadmill bothered it.  This SUCKS.  Its not like the flu or something goes away in a few days.  How does one stay off the knee and do Christmas decorating?  Ladders Lights and hurting knees DO NOT MIX.

A cortisone shot and brace seem to be helping but who knows how long that will last. Tylenol doesn't touch it   Not supposed be using anti inflamatories

Thanks for letting me vent.

Bikes create a constant, repetetive motion akin to grinding.  May cause more pain, etc. than walking...

i don't know whether to agree or disagree with the previous poster.  Personally, I can barely walk..But, my brother was riding his bicycle long distances.  He'd train by riding 30-35 miles per day and then do several long rides of 100 miles or more for charity.  He had an exception a few years ago when he rode from San Francisco to New Hampshire.  After that he got tired of cycling and took up running.  Now he either runs whole or half marathons.  His doctor wants him to go back to the cycling because he's getting injured from running.  He's as stubborn as me.  I suspect he'll go back to cycling in the Spring.

Check with your doctor.  You may want to see a sports medicine specialist.  You're getting on a fine line between what an orthopedist would normally handle.  A specialist may be able to suggest specific exercises.  Probably the best exercise with the least pressure on the joints would be aquatic exercise.  This might be in the form of special classes or even just walking in chest deep water.  I did the latter a few years ago and felt better while losing 20 lbs.
