WOW!! The grand total of my hospital bill was.............

Well today, I finally got the piece of mail that i'd been dreading.   The grand total of the hospital bill was 51,488.34. Thats a lot of money, I didn't  think it'd be that much.  My balance owed according to the hospital is 0.00.  Thank you heavenly father, what a blessing.

I almost dropped when I found out my sleep study prior to surgery was almost $7k. And the new CPAP they gave, which I only needed for a few months, was almost $2K  

My hospital bill alone was about $39,000 (surgeon, assistant, anesthesiologist, etc. all extra).

But, that amount was above the "Reasonable and Customary" charges allowed by my insurance company. They knocked the bill down to about $18,500. Since I had already met my maximum out-of-pocket expenses for the year, the cost to me was also ZERO!!

Yes, this is truly a blessing for which I'm very grateful. But, all I can think about are the poor people that don't have insurance and would be stuck with the full hospital amount without the insurance deduction.

Yes, I do feel for those who have that whole bill to tackle. I'm thankful for my little  Cigna Insurance, it may not cover everything, but it definitely covered something to help me live a healthier life
