Allow Me To Re-introduce Myself
Hey Everyone,
I thought I'd take a moment to re-introduce myself. I'm Angus, and I live in Ottawa. I had surgery in August of 2008. At the time, I was 517lbs. I'm currently 230lbs.
I'm 34, married, and we have two cats (Spike and Chester), and a dog (Anastasia Beaverhausen).
Having the surgery has opened a whole new world to me. I was never "normal sized" in my adult life, so since losing the weight I can fit in any chair, in any restaurant, in any theatre and not have to worry about it.
I drive a Smart Car, I wear clothes that aren't in the largest sizes, and I can walk, climb stairs, and even jog without becoming winded.
It's not all gum drops and lollipops though. I've had some struggles with rediscovering myself, and my sexuality. It's been an adjustment with food, and health.
But at the end of the day, I wouldn't change it for the world.
I'm also very fortunate to have had a Duodenal Switch. People are having a difficult time getting it approved.
December 15th, I start my journey to start getting rid of the extra skin. I'll be having a panni, and an LBL I think it's called. Dr. Nandagopal in Scarborough Ontario will be helping me with this. I'm looking forward to it.
Anyways, that's me. Say hi :)

Congratulations and thanks for posting. I hope you continue to post as frequently as you want. Many men can use positive examples and look to people who have had success with their WLS. We do have a few men from Canada but one's locale doesn't really matter online. You may be able to help your countrymen with the way your health ins system works.
Also, thanks for showing the pictures. You look great!

I think the thing we're not prepared for as guys who lost ALOT of weight is the shake up our bodies go through. I mean, I lost more weight than I weigh now. I'm less than half the man I used to be. My body, and heck, my spirit have taken a drastic change.
It's natural for us to go through some times around it.
Keep strong, congrats on getting the help you need.
