I don't get it
I am 5 months out and can't seem to lose weight any more...everything I read/hear says the first 6 months should be easy and weight loss should continue an minimum of 12-14 months. But I have not lost a pound in around 2 months..i have been bouncing around the same 5 pound range the entire time WTF. I am eating properly getting in my water and protein and nothing. I run 3 Mile 3 time a week and walk about 10 miles more. By any calculation I can find I should be 1500 ish calories a day below maintenance levels. for the 1st while I was stalled my body shape continued to change so I was okay but that stopped weeks ago. I am 50 ish pound from goal and frustrated is an over simplification of how I am feeling on a dailt basis....failure may be a better description....honestly if this is all I lose it was so not worth it...kinda hating thing at the moment
I don't have a simple solution, but I remember that Dx E had an extensive list of how to conquer a stall. Perhaps Cabin111 or one of the other "oldtimers" would have it archived somewhere. I had saved it before my PC crashed. I'll look for it among my saved CDs.
You've lost a lot of weight already. Just the fact that you can run 3 miles sounds amazing to me. Be careful not to diminish your accomplishments. Sometimes one's body won't release the weigh it wants to hold onto. I know I sounds wierd saying this, but it's kind of like your body wants to stay at it's current weight. But, suddenly you'll finally have a drop in weight. I get it because I see it from the opposite side. I tend to snack too much and not gain weight. Then I diet or rather, I follow the rules, and I start to slowly lose weight. I'm not advocating cheating.
Maybe you can vary your diet. Perhaps a call to the nutritionist can help you change your food plan and elicit a quicker loss. I have a friend who occassionally goes back to having a semi-liquid diet for 2 weeks to jump start a weight loss. I say semi because he eats a normal dinner and all other meals are liquid. He is a couple years post op. I don't think I could ever follow his method.
Hang in there. You are doing fine so far. Don't give up and blow it. Luckily, you'd find it's hard to blow the effects of your surgery at this point. You probably simply can't eat large meals anymore. Just stay away from poor snack choices as opposed to protein rich ones.

Hey IAN,
I share your frustration. Maybe I'm not quite as frustrated as you but getting there. Have been "stuck"/"stalled" for over a month now. I'm very close to goal but just can't seem to break 200 lbs. Like you, I've been running, exercising every day, eating what I think is right.
I've seen other posts about a "pouch test" to going back to liquids for a week or two to stimulate loss. The trainer at my gym suggested trying different exercises and routines, just to change things up a bit. Also try different foods and food combination. I agree with comment to touch base with your NUT.
Bottom line...you've accomplished a lot. Jeez, if your running 3 miles 3 x a week, thats great. Keep it up.

Check your clothing size. Sometimes the body just needs to reshape itself and although we are not losing our pant size may go down.
Try varying the routine. Up protein one day more exercise the next etc. That can restart a stall
Add more water. Might flush out the body
Remember this is a journey not a race

Just wondering if you have added bad (simple) carbs early on? Good carbs (fruits and vegetables) are what you should be having at this time...Along with your protein. Simple carbs cause the body to hold onto the weight. Also you may need to drop your calorie. I would talk to your nutritionist. You also may want to go onto the Exercise Forum...They really follow exercise and calories there. Brian
I'm guessing you have a 6 month appointment with your NUT? Start a food and exercize diary so when you go in you will have the info your nut needs to help you get back on track. Most of the time it is something simple. Also, once you start writing everything down maybe you will see a flaw in your diet.
Try to stay off of the scale. Every time you weigh yourself it upsets you, so don't do it. The tool works, we all have to learn how to use it properly.
We feel your frustration, don't give up.

I lost 100 pounds in 5 months and hit my goal of 165 pounds.
I haven't lost any significant weight in a long time. A good solid 6 weeks.
I don't really care though. It is weird though how a person can eat 1200-1600 calories a day like I do, work out a ton like I do, and still not lose.
I know I am gaining muscle, but there still should be a net loss.
That's why I scoff at the the whole Basal Metabolic Rate crap. The body is EXTREMELY efficient at conserving calories no matter what you do.
I wonder if I'm the only one who ha**** goal so fast. I did/am busting my ass though.
Still eating clean, drinking clean. I guess at some point, the body just says no more.
