Isn't it a relief to have a specific date?!? Congrats.

Pre-op is a great time to start getting used to the new lifestyle with diet changes. Best of luck.

Congratulations, Don.  As others have said, this is a great place to hang out and get questions answered.  I like the Men's Forum because these are all guys who've been there, done that, and are living their new lives.  Nothing is out of bounds, no question too silly, and everyone is incredibly supportive.  As the other guys said, lose as much as you can ahead of time, to shrink your liver as much as you can (which makes the surgery much easier on you).

My surgery is tomorrow (gulp!) and I'm ready.  I'm REALLY ready...  Just learned that they moved it back a bit (from 7:30AM to 9:00AM), so I don't have to get up at 4AM to leave for the hospital.  Sweet!  Somehow 5:30 seems like a much more reasonable wake-up time than 4:00!

Good luck to you, Don!
