The Flex Belt - good, bad, or ???

As the weight is slowly coming off, it's obvious that I need to start getting some muscle tone. A friend suggested that while I'm working up to a more physical lifestyle that I purchase a Flex Belt.

This is a strap-on device you put around your waist and it electronically stimulates / "exercises" your ab muscles. They also have an attachment you can use on your arms.

I'm certainly not buying the hype that it's going to give me a six pack. But I'm wondering if this might have some benefit during the early phases of weight loss to minimize some of the sags.

Anyone have any experience or thoughts on this type of device? I plan to ask my doc about it tomorrow during my follow-up visit. But, it doesn't hurt to get a variety of opinions.

I don't know anything about this product, but it reminds me of all of the exercise devices I bought as I continued to gain weight.  I'd suggest goint to the exercise board and asking what would work out best for beginning to tighten your gut or to firm up your abs.  Some of the men who have become fit only post rarely on the Men's Forum but they do post regularly on the exercise Forum.  Remember that you can go to several Forums.  This once is special for talking to the guys and not having to wonder what the women are going to say.

Thanks so much for the suggestion of the Exercise Forum. I didn't realize they had that forum on this site. (Just checked out the plethora of forums. Is there a forum they don't have??)

My doctor was not familiar with the Flex Belt and said he didn't think it would do any harm. But, he also wasn't sure it would do any good.

If it worked, they wouldn't even need a TV ad for it, people would be lining up in stores to buy it. The technology has been around forever, but it really doesn't work.
