4 days Pre-op
Hi all - I am 4 days pre-op, wrapping up this lovely pre-op liquid diet. I am getting sleeved by Dr Davidson here in Dallas on 10/28.
The weight loss I have had over the past 2 weeks is amazing, but at the moment I am feeling crummy, a bit anxious and not really in the mood to celebrate. I am starting to wonder if I will EVER have a normal BM again...
Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself - I've been lurking for a while now but am sure I have a lot to learn from the pro's here. Many thanks to those of you who have stuck around post-op to provide encouragement, support, humor and arse-kicking as needed.

Best of luck on the upcoming surgery. Be sure to take measurements so you can "see" the difference even when the scales seemed stuck.
Are they able to do the sleeve with laproscopic surgery or does it require something more invasive? My RNY was laproscopic and it was much easier than expected. Hope your surgery is similar and your recovery is swift.

Yes, it will be laparoscopic. I had my gall bladder out that way about a year ago at the same hospital and it was relatively easy for me, so hopefully the pain level will be comparable. This surgery is a bit longer, and I think they have to poke a few more holes, but I am staying positive that the pain will be manageable. Crossing my fingers to be back at work (desk job) 5 days after surgery if possible.
Good luck with your surgery. The best thing you can do is keep a positive attitude and you will get through it all a lot better.
As for the BM issue, I am much more regular after RNY. I take Benefiber once a day in one of my drinks. Odorless, tasteless and in my mind a miracle. Things will be especially screwed up right after surgery due to the anesthesia, but if you keep your fiber up, I would think you would get more normal after surgery.
Pre-surgery jitters are the worst. You will get through it, and be amazed at how quickly the time goes. i am almost 3 months out, and I can't believe it. Good luck.

Howdy my fellow Texan!
Pre op jitters are to be expected just don't let them get the best of you.
As to the normal BM thing - remember liquids in = liquids out. When you get back to eating more bulk in your diet the BM thing will right itself. In the mean time I offer my best advice below!!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!
Hey WTG! Welcome! I wish you all the best in your upcoming surgery. Yea, that pre-op diet does get old real fast, but it is worth it. Hang tough and keep us all posted on your progress. Will be thinking about and praying for you, your surgeon/team, and a speedy recovery. You're gonna be in good company of a bunch of loosers!
Howdy, fellow Texan! I'm 9 days pre-op myself, and know exactly what you mean. I went 3 days without a BM, then 3 times in one day! I'm going to the store for some Benefiber this afternoon!
I'm having the RNY procedure with Dr. Nick Nicholson in Plano, TX on 11/2, so you'll be a week ahead of me along this journey.
Best of luck to you!
