Colleen and I visited central Pennsylvania for three days and planned to ride our bicycles through the Gettysburg National Battlefield. However because Colleen was feeling a bit ill and because it was kind of chilly.. We took the auto tour.

ME NEXT TO A CONFEDERATE CANNON

But we still got plenty of exercise.  We climbed two of these 60 to 70 foot observation towers at the park.

LONGSTREET TOWER ALONG CONFEDERATE AVE.

My wife and I also trudged up the rocky path to the summit of Big Round Top... the site of some decisive action during the three day battle.

ME ON THE PENNSYLVANIA MEMORIAL

Visiting the battlefield and museum and learning more about the sacrifices made on both sides was truly moving.  It is inspiring to know how that this nation has such character to survive such a bloody, terrible event like the battle of Gettysburg.

It's something I could not have experienced before my surgery.  I walked the battlefield, climbed hills and stairs with no pain in my knees or feet.  I didn't run out of breath.  I always mention things like that to my wife because it still amazes me that I have a new life.

We made a side trip too..

NO COMMENT.. LOL

Hey Herc!  Yes, Gettysburg is an awesome and very moving place.  Sorry Colleen wasn't feeling 100% and you couldn't do your ride.

But, CONGRATULATIONS on being able to climb those stairs, hills, etc., and really enjoy it without lugging around all those extra pounds!

Again, you are an inspiration to us all!

Must learn from history to keep from repeating it.  Unfortunately we, as a country and individuals, don't always do that.  Very moving to see any Civil War battlefield.  Really moved me to go to Andersonville, GA where the Confederates had their largest POW camp.  National POW Memorial is there as well.

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!
