My insurance requires the 6 month diet crap so I start with week with my Dr. Regardless that I've been a BMI = 35 or more for the past 20 yrs. So I start and in 6 months, hopefully May 2011 I will have a VSG and can start losing permanent weight. But I am much father along then when I started this research at least now I have insurance that will pay for the surgery, so I am excited. Lets hope the time flies fast.

My son turns 3 this week and hope that by doing this surgery I an live to a ripe old age and see him grow up.

Six months sounds like a long time when looking forward at it, but think how fast the past year has flown by...  It will pass quickly.  Hang in there, and don't forget to spend time with your son now.

You'll never look back at your life and say "Gee, I wish I'd spent less time with my family!"

I so agree with Jim...enjoy your time with your son and your entire family every chance you get.  Good luck with the next 6 months.  Keep us posted on your progress!

I was very upset when they told me I'd have to wait six months. The insurance specialist even mentioned later that she felt so bad when she saw my face. These last six months have flown by, and as an added bonus I feel better prepared then back then. I've done a ton of research and lost 50 pounds to boot. Nov. 5th is my last weigh in so maybe more. If you look at it as a bad thing, that's how it will turn out and you'll be miserable the whole time.
