Congrats on getting released from the hospital. Sounds lke you and I are similar paths.
Very glad there have been no complications or problems. Don't know what your Stage 1 liquid diet is but I was on clear liquids (broth or SF jello) for 4 days. I've now on full liquid diet (cottage cheese, yogart, strained creamed soups, etc). I go off that on Friday and can start in on soft foods.
Was very glad to get off the broth and jello. It certainly filled me up (only 2 oz per meal allowed) but there was just no taste or satisfaction. The full liquid is much more appealing. But, the cottage cheese (still only 2 oz) gives me a very "heavy" feeling in the pouch. I don't get sick or have problems. It just feels like I ate an entire Thanksgiving dinner.
Best of luck on your journey and be sure to keep us posted.

Good good...Boring stuff the next few weeks. Don't worry about the energy level...It will come back, but there will be some days when it just won't be there. Remember you may be losing 1-2 pounds a day...It can really drain you.
If you have time...which you do...stuck at home climbing the walls, Google and know what a stricture is and know what the signs of dehydration are. Just to have in the back of your mind. Call the doc for any problems. Don't feel like you're bothering them...That's what they are there for. Some guys end up sleeping in recliners, couches, floor, or bed. Use pillows in creative ways for sleeping and resting. Later down the road when you progress to puree or solid foods remember that if you start to hiccup or your nose starts to run...STOP EATING!! It means your pouch is full or you're eating too fast. Step back and take a break. Enjoy the ride. Brian

Hey Silvergrub! CONGRATULATIONS!!! So glad to hear all went and is going well for you! As Brian said above, don't hesitate to call your medical team if you have any questions or problems. Take it nice and easy these next few days/weeks. Focus on getting your protein in and keep hydrated. As your strength returns take short walks and build on those (slowly).
Keep us all posted on how you are doing and don't be afraid to ask questions or for advice.
You are going to turn into such a LOOSER!!!

I just got back from the hospital one week ago with my RNY. My date was Oct. 4th and NY Hospital with Dr. Dakin. So far I am officially off all diabetes meds. My range is 69 to 120 mg/dl and my one week average is 103. I am amazed. I am eating well. I never got nauseous or threw up yet. Also in one week I can button the sports jacket I couldn't get on before surgery.
Hey Silvergrub.. Glad to hear that all went well for you... I just got home from surgery myself and will be on the liquid stage for two weeks.. I had expected the surgery to be much more traumatic than it was.. Keep up with the moving forward... Hope your making plans on how your going to enjoy the new you thats soon to show up !!! Hope also that your keeping hydrated..
