Compression T-shirt
I read a few posts (some time ago) about compression t-shirts... or spanx for men.
I've lost over 100 pounds and am really saggy.. I'm still loosing and my shape is constantly changing, but since I'm on vacation in the states.. I looked for these shirts at Walmart (someone suggested to look here for cheaper versions)..
My question is.. how are they supposed to fit.. All my giant clothes got too big and I bought a few XL shirts, but they are now getting too big for me.. I tired on an XL compression shirt and it looked ridiculously small, but it went on and seemed to flatten out some of the deflated flab... I then thought.. maybe I should try on a Large.. At first I didn't think I would get it over my shoulders, but it did.. The large really sucks everything in.. and gives me a flat contour.. but it's really tight.. is that the way they are supposed to fit?
What is the purpose of these shirts? Do you wear them under clothes to hide the extra skin, or are they something you wear during exercise to stop the extra skin from flopping (when running)?
Has anyone bought these? how should they fit? did you buy the shorts as well? I can't imagine there is any "ball room" in those shorts if they fit like the shirts!.
I can't find these shirts in Canada, so thought I'd buy one when I'm in the states.. but have no idea how they are supposed to fit?
any advice?

Hi John,
I have worn compression shorts for years under my gym shorts. When I was really big, they helped with the chaffing and a rash I would get on my inner thighs.
Now that I've lost the weight, I also use the shorts and a long sleeved compression shirt, under my gym shorts and tee shirt to a) wick away the sweat and 2) help keep the flab from flapping.
I've also gone down to a L vs the XL, and XXL I used to have to wear. I tried a medium, but it was too tight...I couldn't breath and yes, the medium really did crush the nuggets.
Yes, the K us still tight, but I like the support especially when working out. I joking call them my girddle.
You can get them at WalMart, Target, and our local Kohl's has a nice selection of athletic clothing and often has the compression shirts and shorts on sale, like buy one, get one free.
There were a few occasions when I've worn the shirt, as an undershirt with a sweater or more tight fitting over-shirt and it looked pretty good.

How about sharing what size "regular" shirt you wear in addition to the size "compression" shirt you're wearing? Ditto for shorts... That would perhaps provide some "relativity" guidance for the rest of us. I don't want to buy three different sizes if I can possibly avoid it.
For me, it's a bit premature - I'm still in my pre-op phase, but one day soon... (Looking forward to teh day I have to start worrying about "saggies" - if that makes me wierd, so be it!)

I bought a brand called starter.. Be sure to get the compression brand.. because they also have regular stuff in this brand name. The compression stuff, looks and feels like silk. I'm between a large and xl shirt. I bought a large compression t shirt.. At first it didn't seem like I'd be able to get it on, but I did and I wore it out last night and it was surprisingly comfortable.
I'm wearing a 40-42 pants and I bought a large pair of shorts. They were not difficult to get on at all, so maybe I could have gone smaller. I don't have an apron or panni, but my gut is all wrinkly and saggy. (reminds me of my wife's immediately after child birth).. These shorts really sucked that in.
I swear I looked 20 pounds thinner.. My wife kept standing back and shaking her head.. saying.. "you don't even look like John" I thought these things would be unbearably uncomfortable, but they were fine.. I wouldn't wear em around the house,, but they sure firmed out that flappy roll of skin around my middle and flattened my saggy man boobs.
We went to a show last night.. I sorta had to pee at intermission, but there was no way I was going to stand in the queue at the urinal and try and fish my stuff outa those shorts.. lol
I might just go look for another t shirt.. in white.. so that I could wear it under light coloured shirts without looking stupid... Thanks for the tip guys.. these things really do hide the flabby extra skin that seems to puddle around my middle

Well I jumped on the compression bandwagon as well. I bought two sets today. Unfortunately, the store had nothing in my size in white, so I am going to try the colors under my shirts. That could be strange in itself as I have never worn a colored t-shirt under another shirt. And, it is tough to juggle in these things!
