RNY Surgery Tomorrow Morning
7:30 in the morning I'll have ny surgery. I'm looking forward to getting this done. I began the process with a visit to my PCP in May. I guess waiting 5 months is not so bad even though at times it seemed the day would never come.
Does anyone have any last minute advice other than what the ladies say; walk, walk, walk, sip, sip, sip?

If you have ear plugs bring them with you (I wouldn't bother buying them, but if you have them)...unless you are a heavy sleeper. They wake you at all hours to check your vitals. You'll sleep best at home...Sleep when and where you can. Boring stuff the first few weeks. You'll try and grab for energy and it just won't be there...It comes back, but give it time. The pain near your bellybutton is where they put the camera. The prep work the night before and taking out of the cathater post op, are the worst things the first few weeks. Physical pain a few days (controled by meds), followed by disconfort for a week or so (meds optional), then you should be good to go. Happy trails...

Someone on this board suggested taking loose-fitting older clothing to the hospital. Great suggestion. I took a pair of sweats and a button-up shirt. Very glad to have something loose. Also glad they were old. They put a drain in left side which they removed just before I went home. There was some leakage on the way home which spotted the clothing.
I'd also recommend taking your measure now so you'll have a baseline for comparison.
Staff at my hospital was excellent. Most of my caregivers were either previous WLS patients or had someone in their family that had WLS. It was great having people that understood and cared.
Looking forward to your post-op posts.

Good luck! you have worked hard, now the hard work starts.
Take Gym shorts, whenever I go to the hospital now I wear shorts because I never know how long I will be there.
