A weekend like never before - Thanks weight loss surgery
I took a couple of vacation days to have a long, four day weekend. I was blessed with perfect fall weather for each of those four days, so my wife and I decided to ride a different bicycle trail each of those days. All of them were great fun.
This is from Sunday's 26 mile ride. The temperature, sunshine and fall leaves were perfect.
This photo was taken next to a local wetland preserve. I was riding one of my other bikes because my larger bike had a flat tire.
My wife and I rode about a total of 100 miles on those four days. I'm up to about 1900 miles total since February.
I am still amazed that I am riding again. I never thought I would. I ride more now than I did when I was 22 years old.. when I bought my first bike in 1974. (I still ride that bike by the way)
I'm so glad I had weight loss surgery.

I agree with you that Hercules is an amazing inspiration.one year post RNY and he is doing great. That is an example of the impact that a comittment to an exercise can have on WL. Do I understand that you just had your surgery on 10/8/10? you may still be in the hospital and so your "journey" as it is commonly referred to is just beginning. I am at that point as well being 9 days post RNYand so i am home doing great and 20# lighter. Best of luck on your recovery.

Thanks for your response and encouragement.
Yes, I had surgery on Friday and came home on Saturday. No issues or problems so far. The Dr.'s office checked in on me today and gave me the go-ahead to start with cottage cheese, light yogart, etc. Just sitting down now with my 2 oz of cottage cheese. I'm in heaven - something besides broth and SF Jello.
I'm down about 10 lbs so far and hope to start working part-time on Wednesday. This hasn't been as hard as I expected.

I don't know if this is an encouraging thought or not. . but broth and jello for meals is just a faint memory now.. one year post op.

Herc - CONGRATULATIONS and I agree you are an inspiration and motivation to us all. Thanks to your posts, I started biking again. And I also agree, THANKS WLS! I thank GOD I was able to have the surgery and only wish I would have done it years ago.
For you guys that are still in post-op recovery, your days will come. Just take it a day-at-a-time. Start by walking, getting your protein and liquids in, and progress as your medical team advise.
Thanks again HERC for the continued inspiration and encouragement! Keep up the great work!

Awesome Herc. I'm finally down to a weight where I think I'm comfortable getting on a bike again. Unfortunately it's getting closer to winter here in Chicago and I may have to put it off until Spring. Any suggestions on what kind of bike to get? My ass is kind of boney these days and I'm wondering how that is going to work on a bike seat.
