Doing the 5 day pouch test to jump start your weight loss seems a bit radical to me.  I'd suggest keeping track of what you are eating.  Take care to especially watch how much protein and how much simple carbs you are eating.

I'm not losing like you, but I've learned a lot from what my brother has done.  About 8 years ago, he was on a charity bicycle ride from Boston Common to Central Park in NYC.  It was his first long ride and he figured he'd have to load up on  carbs.  He actually gained weight despite all of that difficult cardil.

Maybe you should contact the nutritionist through your surgeon's office.  I'm sure the surgeon would want to help with your continued weight loss.  The nutritionist may be able to tell you if you really do need to radically change your food plan.

I wasn't always morbidly obese.  I do recall that I could easily fall into the trap of thinking I could eat more if I exercised more.  However, when you look at how many calories you actually use during various activities, you may want to ease up a little on your exercises.

Look at the exercise Forum and look for posts by men who do work out a lot.  Contact some of them directly and ask for training info.  We do have some men who do a lot of exercise and training.  They can probably tell you whether you are pushing yourself to fast.

What the hey.  I'm just a 60 year old man who's still morbidly obese and I wish I could have began this process about 25-30 years ago.

Thanks SJ

I did talk to my NUT (thru Kaiser) and she told me that i needed to eat more....I was eating about 1000-1200 calories a day and she told me i need to increase my caloric intake to 2000-2400 calories a day!!! Also my  work outs  should be 1 hour of cardio and 30 minutes of weights a day...i thought that seemed like a lot to eat being a gastric bypass  person. but posting here a few months ago and talking to a few trainers at my gym they said i wasn't eating enough!!!  thanks again SJ!!!  I AM SO CONFUSED!!!!

You are younger and more active than me.  I'm glad that we can have friendly discussions on this Forum.  Being a couch potato and still morbidly obese ( and an actively eating food addict) I still managed to lose 50 lbs last year by limiting myself to 1600 cal per day.  Of course, I've regained some  --not all--of it.  Now I'm exercising and restricting my snacks.  I still have a small amount of my addicting foods most days, but they aren't playing with my head anymore.

NOTE the difference in our ages and activity levels.  I'm just starting to do about 2 miles on an exercise bike per day and mild lifting.  Still, it's way more than I've done for the past 10 years.

Ok, first perhaps a silly question...What is a "pouch test"???

I've also "hit a wall", have been watching my carbs, calories, etc., and have recently changed my routine at the gym, doing 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of strength training each day.  I'll be very interested to hear other ideas and suggestions.

I have my 6 month post op visit next week, so will be taking to my team's nutritionist, exercise guy, etc.

I have always had a lot of success with the 5-day Pouch Test. It puts you back in touch with your pouch when you have gone through a spurt of not doing things quite the way the NUTS have suggested. It also helps shrink it back down if you fear you may have stretched it out by overeating. It just resets things for me. So I do it when I start fearing that I'm going to put my weight back on and it works for me.

I don't see why you couldn't go to the gym and continue your workouts while you are on it, but I'm by no means a healthcare professional or a trainer.

Good luck with it all.
