Newbie - 4 days away and getting nervous by the day
Three simple rules:
1. No females allowed to post unless they are OH staffers, a female asking something for her significant other or she is posting about surgery results.
2. No WOW's or Onederland. We call them FART's and break the 200 pound mark it is Century City.
3. No more than three emoticons per post or that sparkly crap!
Unlike Obamacare - they ain't nothing too complicated.
We can't prevent the ladies from reading the board but those ladies who post here beyond #1 understand that they are subject to the wrath that they might incur. We'll have a few stray in here but for the most part they respect our space. Same way they would want us to respect the "Preggers" board.
We don't talk about how surgery affects our periods ad nauseam. FYI: Due to the loss of fat around your junk it will appear to be getting bigger. Allegedly 35 lbs lost equals an inch of junk. True for the first 35-40 pounds but not for EVERY 35 lbs. Dammit.
Toss anything out here you want to! Somebody will happen along who has been there or can point you the right direction. We dole out a lot of support here but we ain't against an ass kicking or two.
I'm fixing to tell you up front, and to a man I will get unanimous agreement, you and any newbie reading this are about to start out on a ride that you have never encountered before nor could the ride engineers at Disney create. You will ride highs you have never ridden and you may go to lows you've never seen and are very dark. Not only is this a physical challenge it is an emotional one as well so be prepared. It can be a total mindf**k! If you don't have a therapist you may want to find one. No shame in your game if you do. You will thank yourself for it later.
Don't sweat the "last supper" thing. My "last supper" was my mother's chicken fried steak. Guess what? I can still eat it without issues! May not eat a lot of it like I used to but I can eat it! I eat beef in almost any form, except tar-tar. Not of the Jewish persuation so I eat pork. Being a native coonass I eat the hell out of seafood. Maybe not fried but grilled fish and steamed or boiled shrimp, crab, lobster and crawdads.
Just remember this ain't no sprint - it is a marathon! Oh and by the way we, WLS, patients run a lot of those races.
Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

Make sure to get 64 oz of water per day pre-surgery. I did mainly protein shakes for meals and that helped.
For me, lap RNY was easy. OR @ 8:45 and back to the room by noon. Pain = 1 or 2 out of 10. No vomiting or issues - only hiccups, Going home in 4 hours.
No hunger pains yet. Just sipping my first broth now, Up to 2 oz water per hour, That's been just fine. So far, real easy and walking unassisted. I get tired but after a short rest I'm ready for another stroll.
Turn off the sweat pumps and don't worry.
I'm more worried about when I return to work, Hope to be back on Wednesday & Doc agrees.
Keep us posted on your progress and don't be afraid to ask questions of your Doctor, the nurses and staff at the hospital or in the office, and especially on this site/men's forum.
Do start increasing your Protein and cutting down on the Carbs. Again, this is to help shrink the liver, which is a real key to being able to have the Lap surgery and aid to your post-op recovery.
Drink lotsa water (64+++ oz/day) and WALK, WALK, WALK...if you drink lots you'll spend a lot of time walking to the ******
As far as the "last supper" stuff...you will be able to eat again, just in small amounts. Some stuff may bother you, so don't eat it. At 6 mos post op, I really don't miss anything. I recently read a quote, "Eating junk food or CRAP is not a reward, it's really a punishment."
I believe that! Now that I can't eat that much, I want to make sure what I eat is good....both in Taste and quality in the form of nutrition. Such a mind shift.
One last piece of advice a previous RNYer gave me, the surgery is not the answer to your obesity issue. It is only a tool. You still have to work at it. You still have to watch what you eat and exercise. Like using any good tool, it make the job quicker and in many ways better.
Good Luck!
Been getting in as much protein as I can last few days and decided to do most liquids today and all day tomorrow (per doctor). Day after tomorrow is the big day. Thanks for making room for me on the losers bench.
