Just stopping by with good news
1 My wife just found out that she's getting another 13 week extension on her unemployment. We are overjoyed because we were not looking forward to withdrawing our savings. She works hard at looking for a job and hopefully things will get a little better soon.
2 I got weighed on Mon and I'm losing weight again despite my poor eating habits. Although I am still a food addict, I don't eat vast quantities of food. Part of the reason for the loss is that I have to eat a lot to gain at my weight. I was 357 last spring and was 349 on Mon. I know that's not much of a difference, but I was hoping it wasn't going to be 365 or more.
3 I've finally started to get some exercise. I've set up my exercise bike in my TV room. I've found out that 200 revolutions equals 1 mile. Currently I do them in 50 rev segments and I'm doing 2 to 2.5 miles per day. I know it isn't much, but it's a start. I'm also doing some light lifting. I just filled two half- gallon milk jugs with water and have them on either side of my recliner. I know that they're there and I lift in reps of 10. Again, it's only a beginning. However, I've had virtually no exercise for the past 10 years so this is better than just being a couch potato.
4 My wife inspires me. She has gone on a carb restricted diet due to diabetes. She measures her grams of carbs at every meal and snack. She can't go carb free but she follows her diet and hasn't strayed for over 2 months. She's lost 22 lbs in that time and goes out for a 1/2 hour walk every morning. I'm proud of her. My food addict's diet is different from hers as far as restrictions but they are also somewhat compatable. She'll let me eat whatever I want because she knows I can get in a very nasty mood ( never hitting or even verbal abuse) when I don't have my junk food. I sometimes feel like I'm climbing the walls without it.
5 My RNY has been a success in that I am maintaining a 220 plus weight loss but I know I can defeat the RNY by unhealthy snacking.
Finally, I keep coming here because I need your support. I've learned a lot since I joined ObesityHelp.com in July 2000. Things have changed and the site has grown in size and services. I'm extremely thankful for the Men's Forum. Bob
