How should drinking feel?
So today is day five. I am on a liquid diet. Mostly clear for two weeks per the doctor. Broth, protein Drink, water, SF drinks. Everything was going as I expected. When I would drink I'd stick to 1 oz at a time. I would feel uncomfortable drinking more than say 8 oz per hour. Then this evening all of a sudden nada. No full feeling no pressure in the chest. Is this normal?

The first several weeks after surgery, I had no sensation of being full ... or for that matter, of hunger either. The nerves that control those feelings are damaged in the surgery and will need time to heal. It's important to measure food and drink to avoid over-doing until you begin to feel and understand the new signals from your body. For instance, my body signal for a full pouch is a runny nose -- who knows why, but it's a reliable sign that the pouch is full.

We are each a little different and honestly, I feel different on different days, eating and drinking the same thing.
During this post-op recovery period, do stick to the plan laid out by your medical team. Don't push yourself with food or drink. Remember, even though you may only have a few puncture sites outside, your insides have been cut, re-arranged, sewn back together, and your are in a healing process. Every day you will feel better and stronger and you will able to tolerate different foods and drink as you progress.
Keep up the great work, good luck, and God's speed.

I'm just under six weeks out and for the first 4.5 to 5 weeks I didn't feel that full feeling at all. I measured, ate what I measured, wasn't hungry, but didn't feel that full. In the past week getting down a 20 ounce Isopure that used to take the 25 minute drive to work to drink now takes 2 hours. I get that full feeling and now know what "that one more bite is too much" means.
Now I have to make sure I'm getting in my protein because I'm not hungry at all during the day. Even though I also crave water it doesn't go down as easy as a couple of weeks ago. So, without the full feeling to guide you, measurement is mandatory and the only way you can prevent overeating and damaging the new stoma. The full feeling will come soon enough.
