When did you start weight lifting??
My current weight is around 220 and I instead of going into hibernation this winter, I'm going to stay active. I want to start lifting weights but I'm scared that with the muscle gain I will stop my weight loss...is this true? Also, I've never really messed with the weights in the gym before. How did you familiarize yourself with them?
I started a month and half after surgery. My surgeon said have at it.
All lite weights, hi reps.
The days of pushing a 400 pound bench are over.
I started hitting the weights again at about 202, now I'm 173.
Don't worry about it.
Yes muscle weighs more the fat yadda, yadda, yadda.
But it burns more fat.
And it jacks up ur metabolism big time. You'll start to see changes in you physique and thats what it's all about.
I am trying to get to 165. I don't know if hitting the weights is holding me back.
I also mix it up with HITT cardio, walking, mountain biking, road biking. And just started taking aerobic classes at my gym They are killer. Very P90X'ish
But who cares. I know it's a "mind screw" though because we tend to get fixated on the scale. But I was happy at 190. So any more weight loss now is gravy. If you'll excuse the pun. LOL

I started at about 180 and am now at 194. Let me tell you from experience it will be easier to keep it than put it back on. Start soon. I feel 100% better with the gain in muscle mass. I also want to add with the 14 pound gain I am wearing smaller clothes now. If it slows the loss on the scale your the only one that will know. People don't believe me when I say I have gained 14 pounds because I look thinner and healthier with the muscle.
No longer about weight , it's all about living.
I started at 6 weeks and still didn't feel right so I gave it another 2 weeks. Even then I started really light. I also have an incisonal hernia that I am 90% sure is directly from lifting early on. That is just my 2 cents worth of caution. Good luck.
