CHEST REDUCTION SURGERY
Hi, just wondering if anyone here has had chest reduction/reconstruction. Any good surgeon recommendations? Also, if you paid cash, how much did it run? Anyone have any experience with insurance covering this procedure? And what was the experience like in terms of hospital time, pain, recovery and results? Thanks.
Frank
Don't know...Do know many people from CA go to Mexico for their PS (cash pay). You might want to ask on the FL board...Check out the Florida State Message Board!
I had male breat reduction done years ago. After loosing 100 pounds. Since I was a teenager I had big man boobs. I was always self conscious about them.. I'm Canadian so the procedure was covered by our government health plan. They took pictures first and applied for approval but mine were contoured like women's breasts so there was no question. The plastic surgeon did liposuction on me (2 small incisions) then bound my chest for a few weeks.
He actually had to repeat the procedure because he didn't get enough fat out the first time. After the second time I had a fairly flat chest..
I later gained back 100 pounds plus and of course my boobs grew bigger again, BUT they looked like most fat guys with man boobs.. The contour was "normal" so I was not self conscious about them.
You will loose sensitivity in your nipples (wasn't a big deal for me ) I didn't find it that painful. Only took a couple days off work. but then I didn't find the RNY surgery very painful either.
Now that I have lost close to 100 pounds I have sort of .. sagging loose skin on my chest. I still have another 50 pounds or so to loose, and will have to see if my saggin skin (also my belly) tightens up a bit. It's not a big concern for me as it's not at all obvious when wearing clothes.
You don't indicate what stage of weight loss you are in.. It appears from your picture that you have lost a lot of weight. If your concern is about sagging skin in the breast area, then they would not do liposuction,, (which is really to get rid of the fat)
If this is something that really concerns you, I would encourage you to look into it.. For years I always wore a sweater (even in the summer I'd wear a sleevless sweater over a shirt because I was so self conscious about my boobs).. If I ever went swimming I'd swim with a shirt on.. It was totaly worth it to me to have this surgery

I got rid of my moobs through surgery after my DS. My surgeon was excellent, she gave me the option of just having an incision under my arms and just around my nipples, which would have given me no visible scars (unless someone looked under my arm). But I chose to have the long scar from under my arm to the middle of my chest because I was having a LBL at the same time, with an anchor cut, so I figured that going topless at the beach wasn't gonna be happening in my near future.
There it was the 2nd best surgery I ever had, the first was the DS....but plastics did something that the DS couldn't do alone, I now look normal in cloths, no unusual bumps...lol.

I had the male breast surgery when I was about 17 and am now 39. I am at about 350 lbs now, but I can say that I am less embarrassed to go shirtless at the beach than before. It was relatively painless. They took out the stuff, stitched me up, and placed drainage tubes in. The drainage tube removal felt weird but was lucky enough to be of very little pain. There is one thing though. When I lift my arms, where by "breasts" used to be, they now indent inwards. Not grotesquely, but noticeably, then there's also the scars that extend from one side of each to the other. I also lost feeling in my nipples as well. Keep in mind that this was done around 1988 in a small northern town. I am sure by now they can use lipo and other more conventional methods - all the best with the search, my friend!
