17 days in
I'm now 17 days since surgery. My weight came off quickly but now has slowed, although it's still going in the right direction. I know I should exercise more but on 570 cals a day I just don't have a lot of energy. I try to walk twice a day - one mile each time.
It's taken me four days to lose my last two pounds.
I went into the hospital at 330, came out at 337, and am now at 293.
I assumed I would lose at an accelerated rate while on the liquid diet, but that seems to have ended.
I know I have done well for 17 days, but is this somewhat normal. Anything else I should do?
Thanks, Bill

Everyone is different and while some may experience the accelerated loss in the first week or 2 not many see it at the rate you, myself and others have experienced.
Everyone here knows the frustration of going from a quick loss to a slow loss. As hard as it is to hear and accept, that is how it happens. Some weeks you may lose like mad others you won't lose a pound. Drinking and walking will help, just don't withhold food thinking it will because it won't. The fatigue is fairly normal and something you just have to push through which at times is difficult.
Don't focus on your goal weight but rather focus on all of the changes that have happened so far. Using your pre-op weight, not post-op cause of the IV fluids, you have dropped 37 pounds! It has taken me 7 weeks to do 40 pounds. So be proud of what you have lost. Your clothes probably don't fit anymore, your face has probably changed along with many other things. Focus on these things and set small goals that you can gauge your progress on. My favorite was to by clothes in a NON Big & Tall store, which I hit a couple weeks ago, now I can but clothes at Target. Next goal is to shop at Old Navy largest jeans are a 40 or 42. Instead of walking a mile shoot for 1.5 by the end of next week and 2 miles the follwing week. If you are walking on the street aim for the next corner beyond where you go now.
As my surgeons nurse told me floow the plan layed out by the doctor and you will lose weight. The easy part was everything that lead up to the surgery now is where the work starts and it isn't always going to be easy.
Keep pushing forward.

44lbs in 3 weeks? Don't be greedy that's a wonderful achievement.
You will experience repeated stalls. A lot of people have them at 3 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months and 6 months.
Just keep doing what you're doing, follow your doctor's plan and it will continue to come down.

Before the surgery I kept putting things off. I was never good enough. One of the benefits of WLS is that you start to believe in yourself. Check out my blog:

Keep doing what you are doing and don't concentrate on a number on a scale. In fact the best advice I can give you is to stay off of the scale until your 3 month follow up with the Doc and NUT. Walking twice a day and keeping as active as your metabolism will let you, getting in all your water and protein is about all you should do the first couple of months. The professionals will give you your next goal.
WTG so far!
Good Luck,
