A strange recurring illness
over the course of the last few years, I get ill for 1-2 days every 4-6 weeks. It's kind of like the flu--my hands start to shake, I get chills, I may run a fever, I may be incontinent at night, and I have to bundle up when I sleep. I thought it was just me since I have a few chronic conditions. However, I had to cancel a lunch some friend and notified them by e-mail. When we got together agai, one of the guys, who also had WLS, said he has the same problem. We had different type of surgeries. I have mentioned this to my primary doc and he's stumped. The strange thing this past week when it happened is that I had just had blood work done that morning. But the workup was to check my INR levels for coumadin dosages. That is, they weren't looking for anything else.
I was just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience.

Wow does sound odd .. Have you asked your surgeon about this?
It almost sounds like low blood sugar spells .. Were you a diabetic before WLS? Sometimes RNY patients can develop "reactive hypoglycemia" after a few years out .. I would get a blood glucose meeter and test yourself when you are having one of those spells, just to rule it out ..

Frank talk about the DS / "All I ever wanted to be was thin, like that Rolling Stones dude ... "
