Excessive Skin

I'm early into this but I was wondering, after you meet your goal, does your skin shrink back or is surgery necessary?  I'm in my early 60's, has anyone else around my age met their goal and had to deal with excessive skin?

Thanks,
Bill

More than likely you are looking at going under the plastic surgeon's knife to have it removed.  How much you lose, where it comes from, arms, legs, stomach, and your age, sorry, are factors.  If your loss is pretty even from all areas then you can live with the skin thing better.  I do any way.  Could use a lower body lift but for now it will wait.  If you lose a lot from your panniculus, belly flap, you can have that removed without a full tummy tuck.  Arms and legs same way.   Till you get to the plastic stage there are support garments you can buythat will help hold it together for you.  If budget is an issue, and who is it not for these days, there is always DUCT TAPE!

Thanks for your good answers every time I post.  And congratulations on your success.

Two more questions:

When will I see a drop off in my weight reduction; after I get about 1/3 off?

I'm still on Stage 3 diet.  Can I have sugar free pudding as part of it?

Thanks- Bill

Like the commercial says "Your mileage may vary!"  WLS journeys are apples and oranges.  I blew through my first 100 pounds in under four months and took six months to make the last sixty pounds.

Not familiar with what you are referring to as "Stage 3".  I don't see any issue with SF pudding anytime post op.  Early out it is easy on the pouch. even if it is a "slider" food and later on helps with the sweet tooth thing.

Hi Bill,
I too am a little worried about sagging skin. I'm 55 and I know as you get older you skin looses it's elasticity. So far I seem to be shrinking consistently and although my skin is a little loose, it seems to be shrinking too.
Alot depends on your shape before surgery. Do you have an "apron" of fat that hangs down over your crotch.. if so, you will likely need to get that looked after once you've lost your weight.
I did not have an "apron" I was proprotionately fat all over.. but one thing that is different with this weight loss as compared to a regular diet weight loss is that I seem to be loosing my ass. I previous weight loss attempts i still had a big butt, but my ass has all but dissappeared.

Don't worry too much about the skin.. There's nothin you can do about it anyhow..enjoy your shrinking body and how good you look in new clothes.. Unless you make your living as a porn star, you won't be walking around naked much anyhow.. so most of the saggy stuff stays hidden under clothes.
