The first week

Had surgery Monday and today started stage 3 diet.  I'm still having a slight fever and my blood pressure is higher than normal.  The nice part is I have not been in any pain, just tired.

About ten minutes after having sugar free jello or Carnation Instant Breakfast No Sugar or anything, I seem to have to go to the bathroom.  Not a lot comes out but its all liquid.  I also seem to have to get up at night about once an hour to pee.  I'm hoping this is just the residual liquid from the IV.

Is all this pretty normal?

Thanks, Bill

Pretty much par for the course.  Liquid in = liquid out so that is good.  Any poop beats no poop!  Remember you just had major surgery so you should expect to be tired.  You're doing alright!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

I had surgery on 8/10/10, so about 2.5 weeks ago.  I went through the same things. Water bowel movements.  Once you start eating pureed food you will start to go more normally.  Your doing just fine and that's good you're not having much pain.  I had a lot of pain due to my drainage tube.  Just make sure you're getting a lot of fluids and you're protien supplements, that's really important to heal.  I was tired too, you will be feeling like a million buck before you know it.
