Just a quick update, I don't get on much any more.  I just wanted to let you all know that I completed my goal to finish a Century Ride.  Last Saturday I rode 102.15 miles in 6.5 hours (I took 5 stops to refuel) almost averaging 17MPH.

In the next 2 years I want to train for LOTOJA as my next goal.

It makes me extremely happy to have come this far from 427 lbs to being able to complete this ride.  To all you on this journey to health or just starting or thinking about the journey - IT IS ALL WORTH THE WORK AND TIME AND EFFORT!!

Good job Dan...Good to see you again.  I have a bad back, so I never really got into running post op.  But I found the bicycle to be the way to release the stored up energy without the pounding.  Enjoy the ride!!

Nice job DT!!  6.5 hours of most anything is quite an assignment, but biking at 17 mpg avg,... and I suspect it wasn't all downhill coasting,....you should be pleased.  That is quite and accomplishment.

Thanks guys for your replies.  I remember when I was pre op all the success many had on this forum, it was what motivated me to stay the course.  And yes running is not something I am good at either because of back and joint pains.

As for the ride it was 2 loops around a lake (Bear Lake, Utah) and the 2nd lap was hard, especially when I hit the hilly parts for the 2nd time.  My family was there to support me and it was great!

I will post some pics later today
