Nobody told me...or it didn't sink in.
That's right. It doesn't stay off on it's own (normally). What it does do is, allow you to keep it off with a reasonable diet and level of activity. I started at 280 and averaged 10 hours of exercise a week 3 months pre-op and at least two years post-op.
4 years out now, pushing 49 years old and still do a lot of exercise. Don't eat much garbage, a l of healthy and fiber filled food and don't gain weight.
There's still time. It's really best to think of it is an opportunity for a fair shake at having healthy body weight. If you think of it as a free or near free ride (not that you do), you're likely to be disappointed.
Best Wishes,
Dave

Amen to that gentlemen !!!
I took a month off prior to my surgery date of 6/7/10. Lost 30 lbs that month.
Surgery Date I was 230.
Today, I'm 181.
I took off the whole summer and have been falling in love with mountain biking, road biking, Spinning, hitting the weights. And in the next week, Aerobic classes.
I am am constantly switching them up to keep the body confused. Don't underestimate the body's ability to adapt.
I am making the most of this "honeymoon" phase. I love working out. Staging myself for good exercise and nutritional habits I am constantly looking for ever increasing challenges.
I have not stalled once.
