Goal reached !!!!

I reached my goal of 190 lbs. Actually, I was 188 lbs. this AM!

I wanted to be 190 lbs. by time I went back to work on Aug. 16th.

My high weight was 265 in the beginning of May.

Surgery date was 6/7/10 and I was 230 lbs.

So that's 77 pounds lost since the beginning of May. And 42 lbs. since my surgery.

I am now setting a very aggressive goal of 165 lbs.

I am almost 8 weeks out.

Don't put too much pressure on yourselg by expecting too large of an early weight loss.  Check with your primary to find out what he thinks you should weigh.  If you haven't had it done yet, tou may want to have him check your blood work

A FART is our version of a wow moment.  Some men thought that by calling thm FARTs, women would be discouraged from posting--give me a break.  I think it's Fantastic Awsome Really Terrific.

Now that you have lost so much weight, I suggest that you rent a kayak and try it out on the bay.  By the end of the season, some of the shops may havee boats for sale.  No matter what you do, check out the Jersey Paddler;  they have great personnel and you cantry out the various boats they sell.  They ofte have sales of overstocked or prior year's boats.  I never cared about the model year for a boat I plan to have for years.

Thanx guys.

I already checked with my surgeon. When I was 265, he said I should be able to get down to 165. He never etched it in stone though.

With my body type, (ex-powerlifter) I thought that would be too lean. But certainly seems doable now. His Physician Assistant, thinks I can get down to 150.

I'm not having over zealous expectations. That is why I try to set reasonable goals. If I didn't lose another pound, I would be happy. Anything else lost from this point is gravy. If you'll excuse the pun. LOL

I lost a lot so far, BUT I have been busting my ass to do it. Making the most of my time off

I'm not sitting around letting the surgery do all the work, then after the "honeymoon" stage, start working out.

Since May, I have walked hundreds of miles, biked hundreds more. My new love is mountain biking at Allaire State park for hours on end.

Also I was cleared to start hitting the weights a few weeks ago, so I'm also doing that. Low eight, high reps.

I feel great !!!

I know what you mean...You're like a kid in a candy store with a wad of dough...Where do I start??  I went from one sport to another trying to find the right one post op.  I settled with biking and glad I did.

 I hear ya. It's like I'm crossing training. When I get tired of mountain biking, I ride my road bike. When I'm tired of that, I walk. With weightlifting, I'm gonna incorporate some aerobics classes like a Powerpump or a Bootcamp class. I'm loving it.
