StomaphyX procedure?

Hi - It's been a long time since I visited this forum.  I'm back because I've regained some weight and didn't lose all the weight I wanted to after my VSG.  I need to lose about 45 more pounds and am considering the relatively new StomaphyX procedure which will tighten the stomach via the esophagus for VSG and other obesity surgery patients.  (no incisions, outpatient, back to work the next day).  It purportedly will help those who didn't lose all the weight needed to lose 15-20% additional weight.

Is there anyone on this board who has had this procedure? I'm a self-pay patient and would like to know if dropping another 12k will be worth it?  Thx, all!

Hey there...Been around these boards for years.  I remember you.  My 2 cents...I think the StomaphyX is like the ROSE procedure.  It doesn't have a lasting effect.  I heard this from my surgeon.  If I were you, I would consider a revision to DS in Mexico...At least look into it if you are self pay.  Brian

Yeah I heard kinda the same thing. It sounds like it would work, but from I heard it doesn't. Or at least not all the well.

The StomaphyX uses staples where the Rose procedure uses sutures. My Surgeon told me he does the Rose procedure,  just out of conversation. His specialty is laproscoptic suturing so I think he would be pretty good at it.

I am not a VSG expert, but I have never heard of using Stomaphyx for anything but the RNY pouch .. (btw, they say the Rose Procedure is supposedly a better, longer-lasting alternative) ..

If you're saying your sleeve has stretched out (boy, has mine   ), then you might look into getting it cut a bit smaller again ..

What was your starting BMI, btw?  Perhaps you are a suitable candidate for the two-step DS ..  You've had the first part, now the 2nd part (i.e. the "switch") might do the trick to get the rest of the poundage off and keep it off ..

Frank talk about the DS / "All I ever wanted to be was thin, like that Rolling Stones dude ... "

Thanks everyone for your comments.  I've contacted my surgeon at Laproscopic Associates here in San Francisco.  The first step is apparently to have an endscopy (upper GI) to let the surgeon see if your pouch has stretched out.  This procedure is normally used to preserve the option of switching to a DS later for VSG patients.  In my case I regained 20 lbs and hadn't lost about 20-25 lbs that I originally needed to so I need to lose 40-45 lbs to achieve optimal weight.  My surgeon doesn't want me to undergo a revision or switch to DS at this point because my BMI isn't high enough. Seems the ROSE or Stomaphyx are my best options. I'll post a followup later if I end up having one of them.
