Until this weekend, I used medical tape, wrapped around the ring to keep it on.  Now that I am within 10 pouds of goal - I dropped it off at the jewlers to be resized - down more than four sizes mind you.  Its only been since Saturday but I feel half naked.

I've had so many replies to this post!  There is a real WOW feeling to having these important rings resized, but also feelings of regret and loss.  I really want to go out and buy a cheap ring to wear until mine comes back resized.

I went from 14 1/2 to 9 1/4.  I'm glad I waited until I was done losing, going with out for a few months didn't hurt a bit, but wearing it too loose and losing it would have been heartbreaking.

That's why I'm having mine resized now.  If it becomes too loose again I'll have a clasp fitted.  I suggested buying a cheap substitute ring until I finish losing weight but this was rejected by my wife (very strongly).  One day I will ask her why....

After less than 2 weeks my ring fits with out leaving a groove in my finger or having to twist for a minute. Slides on Slides off just like it is supposed to.

For the six months before my op I couldn't wear my ring at night as my fingers would swell.  Just like you, about two weeks after the ring fitted great.  My very real fear was losing the ring as it was way too loose!  I will feel a lot better when it comes back from resizing...

RusselB. its funny you mentioned that tape.... Im using the 1/2 in surgical tape!! otherwise my rings are spinning and falling off. But thank god for fairly large knuckles.... No white indentions anymore under the rings.... The watch went in two knotches.... LOL I now look like  10 year old wearing a watch that is cinched up to the max... with the end sticking out....

Just dropped my ring off at the jewlers to get it resized this week.  For our 20th anniversary (10 years ago) my wife had given me a new band, which was bigger as I had gained so much weight.  When I dropped off that "new" band last week, I was able to get my original band on and it fits fine, so I still am able to wear something.  It would feel really wierd after 30 years to have a bear finger.

I also had to have a couple of links taken out of my watch band.

These are small prices to pay for such success!  I can live with it, and now that I am much healthier, hopefully will for a long time!!!
