Protien drinks
Today I started on the full liquid portion of my doctors diet whi*****ludes protien dinks. Wife went to GNC and pcked up some Whey protien powders and so far the Banana isn't that bad when mixed with milk.
However she did buy me a unflavored one and I was thinking what am I going to put this in to make it drinkable. Then it donned on me, I have an awesome espresso machine with some decaf grinds. So I am going to try a latte protien shake for breakfast in the morning. If it works I may just find a replacement for my monring caffine fix.

Several people who have had WLS and now sell protein powders generally have samples of protein poders available at a nominal cost. You used to be able to just look in the ObesityHelp store. Now I'd suggest that you Google low carb protein powder sample packs. Your tastes may change after surgery or you may become lactose intolerant for a while.
I didn't have any problems with whey ( and, thus, lactose) prior to my RNY. After surgery it caused the trots. I had to use soy based protein shakes for about 11 months. I was glad when I was able to get on the whey shakes because they are smoother --10 years ago soy shakes were gritty--and taste much better.

The first few mos out ,any kind of coffee would make me hurl.... It took quite a while for my sleave to handle the acidic stuff.Im now sipping coffee a few times a week... But not much... I strictly use an unflavored Wey powder... I mostly use yogurt and powdered flavoring to fix a drink..It does get boring .....I also put protien powder in coffee too...Each one is different .... Good luck on your flavoring combinations.

My surprise lactose intolerance post-op was not discovered until the forcing down of Carnation Instant breakfast casued a kidney to stop and they had to put my butt back in the hospital for a week to figure it out. I wound up on Boost chocolate and srwberry protein drinks for lactose intolerant. Just about the time I started buying it by the case, it went from tasting heavenly to nasty. Then I transistioned to whey powder in all kinds of stuff like beef broth (stirred into a gravy type consistency), sugar free pudding, and other creative concoctions (yes I tried it with mashed potatoes made w/o milk or that lactose free silk milk stuff, yeeck!)
I finally found piece (in addition to wendy's chili) after about 10 months with Pure Protein bars and water. It is still my main staple. I am sure I could live off these protein bar, water and my vitamins and supplements,....boring but it would work.
Think of it as an adventure. And try to rember eating is now for fuel and nourishment. It will seldom be pleasurable. Going out to eat will become about the people you go out with, not about the food, because most of it will not be on your eatable list, or you'll spend a fair amount of time int he restroom.
But you will become thin and healthier, and actually be happy about it. Its small sacrifice and a major lifestyle change,...not a diet .

A guy at one of our nutrition clases recommended this. He mixes vanilla or plain protein powder for a wide variety. A little pricey but large bottles.
