The countdown has begun
Best of luck to you. At least you got yours in before the fall semester lol. I think I am on track for the middle of September.
I really do look forward to hearing how your recovery goes. I am hoping to be back at work after just 2 weeks. I think we have similar positions within USNH so I can use you as a gauge.
Again, good luck.

My son works for WSBE. He had his RNY 4 weeks ago to avoid semester rush. Went back to work last monday @ 4 weeks as he was going nuts at home. I am with GSC so we do not have a summer break. If you have the SL on the books TAKE IT. Do not rush yourself. I did that once with a herniated disk and ended up with a 2nd surgey, then stayed home for 6 solid weeks.
Again if have the SL, or talk to HR and your supervisor, the work will ALWAYS BE THERE. Back to work makes it difficult to stay on schedule to stay on track. meds, protein, fluids, walking, This is a lifetime commitment, journey...Be good to your body and it will be good to you.

Having been in your position just days ago I know what you are going through. Just do what the nurses tell you and you will do great.
Good Luck

Ah, I remember the day well... I wish I'd only had to do a day of clear liquid, my surgeon made me do a full week before mine. Just follow the directions and you'll be up and started with the new life in no time. Being me, I do have to say if anything really odd goes on call your doctor, don't wait, but nothing will, it rarely does.
First let me say all is well, next let me say how TERRIFIC the Nursing and LNA staff are here at CMC. Now the details:
0600 20th arrive CMC
06:30 prep for surgery, stockings, johny, etc Anesth...started iv
7:20 into OR..Moved over to table and that was the last thing I remember till 3:00ish.
They did the foley and tube in the OR after I was out
They say I went to room athroat round 1:30. Sort of remember groaning a bit in recovery
No acute pain PA and Dr Cambell in (I was told) :)
Dull pressure at diaphram, 5:00 sent Pam home, 6:00 into chair..7:00pm short track walk (around 1 nursing station...inflatable leg things on, on demand pain me button
SLEEP...DRY MOUTH. They have lemon swabs to use but after 3-4 of them taste like a 3 day old lemon drop....
0600 21st, not passing gas yet and expect that is the dull pressure...in chair by 7am, busy morning so I had to wait for a walk''9:00 walk 2 laps long track (2 nursing stations)
Dr. Campbell in around 9. Happy with progress, advised all went well. start 30ccs water over the course of an hour, BIG help with dry mouth foley out around 9:30 To quote my son.."interesting"
Nap 10-2pm (along with 4 phone calls and vitals, and sugar test and other wake me ups=
3:00 fresh water wash up, brush teethe, spit... back to chair
5:30 Pam visit, 3 laps around long track. Pretty tired, time to sleep. Started passing gas around 6, begins to relieve pressure in belly. 1st couple of pees stinging, better later
6:30am today Respiratory in with my advair, Up to pee and fart, into chair
PA OKs move to clear fluids now! Not really craving anything
PT takes me on long wak and includes 5-6 stairs (x2)
Talking about going home later today. mid afternoon?
Thanks to everyone for your
