I gained 15 pounds.
I learned some great information when I had my most recent Body Composition test on Friday.
The below chart is my test results from late April.
These are my test results from Friday.
What the numbers mean:
The most relevant information is that my lean body weight (skin, bones, organs without measuring fat) has gone from 180 pounds to 195 pounds. So even though my overall weight has climbed from 220 to 235 pounds since late April, the weight I have gained is lean mass... muscle. My excess body fat has dropped from about 18 percent to 17 percent. Still in the moderately healthy range.
I have to say.. I was always one of those people who thought that only "jocks" and athletic types could gain muscle weight. But riding my bicycle every day is apparently paying off. And bike riding is not an activity that I dread. I look forward to riding once or twice a day. I didn't know how I would find the time, but I had to decide that it was important to me.. and I found the time.
I still would like to lose about twenty pounds and get into the "lean" category. It would make it easier to ride my bike. And I still am trying to find a level of carbs, fat and protein to enable me to lose weight, keep or increase muscle and still have enough energy to ride my bike. I'll talk about it with my nutritionist when I see her next.
For those of you going to Cincy in August. I'll see you there.

I had my bod pod test at the university of akron sports dept for 25 bucks. I don't know if you are from Indiana (where you had your surgery) but is see one for 45 bucks in Indianapolis. However I suggest you first contact a local university sports medicine dept first. Could be cheaper.

That number 2177 is the number of Calories I need to eat a day just to maintain bodily functions with no other activitity. RMR = Resting Metabolic Rate. That was the number back in April. Now that I have increased lean mass, the number is 2,350.

Good job man...impressive...did you also start lifting weights?
I got serious about weight training on 4/22 and have gone from 215 to 232 lbs in the past 3 months, but like you, more importantly my body fat has dropped from 17 to 15% and I've picked up a few inches in my arms, shoulders, etc.
Good stuff.
