Not long until friday

So today was my pre-op appointment with the doc and registration and pre-op at the hospital.  Except for a couple of mix ups on where to be and when all went smooth. Doc was satisfied with the bit of weight I was able to lose by his records but really was a drop for me since I had some set backs and pretty much dropped almost 10lbs in 4 weeks.

So I hit the hospital friday morning at 8am.  I don't think I have ever been so excited and nervous at the same time.  Ok maybe getting married and the birth of my boys equal it.  I have been on an all protien pre-op diet for 2 weeks officially, I started 2 weeks early so I am in week 4 of only protien and less than 20 carbs a day.  For a guy my size that is not an easy thing.

Atkin shakes have been a staple this past week to get something other than meat or cheese on my taste buds. Which brings me to a question. What protien powders do you recommend?  Atkins drinks are good but damn expensive.

On the damn this is good side.  My wife bought me some shirts last year that were slightly tighter on me than my skin was.  I have been wearing them for the past 2 weeks and even managed to fit i a shirt that hasn't fit in about 5 years.  I told my wife today that I look forward to buy clothes from old navy and even jeans from Walmart rather than the $50 jeans from the big dude stores.

Currently my mantra is "You can do this. You need to do this."

Here is my input on the shakes.  Your taste will change over the next few weeks and months.  What I would do is get on your state board here on OH (GA).  Try and make it to the first local support meeting you physically can go to.  Before the meeting ask different people (who are going to the meeting) to bring samples (powder) of they're favorite flavors.  You can do the same with friends and acquaintances who you know that have had the surgery.  Have them label them and say where they got it (put it in a baggie).  So many people buy the big 5-6 pound tubs and then can't stand the taste later.  My favorite protein shake came from my tenant (who had RNY)...She couldn't stand it...I loved it.  Brian

Good Luck Friday!

Clothes shopping is soooo much easier, and for the most part less expensive, at smaller sizes.  Be careful that you don't turn into a clothes *****!  While you are rapidly loosing the thrift stores are the best places to shop.  If you have to have "good" clothes for work don't buy a new wardrobe with every size you go down to.  Maybe two new shirts or pants.  You'll be passing them along soon enough.  It's a mind f**k to watch the sizes go down!  You'll think "how am I supposed to get my fat ass into these?" and they FIT!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

Paul words of advice Just buy your clothes at thrift stores for the first  8 mos. just a few sets of shirts and pants at a time... because Its going to be freaking unbelievable how your body will change You will be going thru pant sizes every month... When you get back home and you feel a bit productive , make a little alone time and go thru all the clothes in your closet, make peace with some and then throw them out.Give some to your big friends because you will never be that size again....  Wait till you see the size of underwear you will end up with ...... Mine looks like it should fit a 13 yr old ....  If you use the old ones the the twin boys will sneak out the side door and be stuck out there untill you get them back in... I dont need to explain further....
