If not Tylenol, then what?

I usually just use the CVS version but I'm wondering if that's OK with all of the recalls.  Has anyone heard of other acceptable otc pain pills?  I take at least 4 extra strength pills for arthritis in my knees.

You could take Tylenol with Codeine...or Vicodin.  It will make you constipated and you won't get restful sleep.  With Codeine you always have busy dreams and don't wake refreshed.  I would ask your doctor about Tramadol...Great for sleep and pain.  Or you could try 1 Ibuprofen say once every other day...But that could hurt your empty stomach.  I did used Ibuprofen for a day or two when I pulled a muscle badly...Not a regular thing.  Knowing the side effects too.  I take a baby aspirin (81mg) for my heart daily.  Just me.

sjbob:  Firstly the recall is not because of something really dangerous.  The Tylenol is contaminated by a chemical produced by bacteria that gives a musty/moldy smell to the pills, but really isn't dangerous medically.

Secondly:  Take generic acetaminophen which is not recalled.  Same thing as Tylenol, works as well, and is MUCH cheaper.  Just make sure you drink less than 2 servings of alcohol a day and that you don't have liver disease before using.

Good luck
