So this is big for me ... I'm sitting in a conference room at work ... I'm excited and nervous and scared and hopeful and anxious and alot of other stuff. You work and work and work and work to get to this point then when you get there you realize that this journey begins in earnest now.

I'm scheduled for 8/9/10 at 10:45am ... it's real.

Good for you. All those emotions are perfectly normal. Best of luck in your journey.

Way 2 Go Dude.  The hardest part is now behind you.  Now you'll have have the 2 week pre surgery liver shrinking diet, the presurgery cold feet (do I really need to do this?) and the ultimate "don't risk death to loose weight" speech from a close friend or family member.  These are all pretty regular and normal.  Don't lose your focus.  Write your self a list of reason you want this surgery and another things you want to do as a thinner person that can include stuff a s simple as sitting in a restaurant booth without a shoe horn to pry yourself in or as exocit as skiing or hang gliding.  Keep these two things to reference post-op.  They are motivational 6, 12, 18 ,months out.  I still read mine at 4 yrs post-op.  and it will also be good to get some pre surgery pictures at a location and in positions you can replicate post op so you can see for yourself how your body is changing as you shrink.

Hey, its a great ride.  Very excited for you. Big Congrads!!!!

Oh and do not stock up on foods and drinks before surgery, your tastes are gonna change after surgery.  Trust me.  The only thing you can be sure of is vitamins, supplements, water, ice, and maybe beef broth.  (Walgreens has a generic (their brand) very small mutil-vitamin with iron; chewable were tolerable but nasty; I started with Flinstones but was quickly looking for alternatives that weren't hosre tablets.)

 Bad metaphor...I hate roller coasters!

Actually, yes, I am looking forward to it.  My kids are nervous as expected, but I think they will like the dad that isn't afraid of a restaurant booth or the rides they want to go on.

Well, I will take the opportunity to let all know that I too have a date. Right before BW.  7-20 @ 7:30 am. GBP Laproscopic with a robot! (CMC Manchester NH) Only 4 incisions, smaller and reported less pain!

The 2 week pre diet is been fine. Doing the Yougurt & Kashi bar or small bowl of cereal for Breakfast and the Lean Cuisine meals for Lunch & supper. I can even get in a Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich and be under the 1100-1200 calories.

Support is fine. Heck my wife did this 20 months ago and our eldest son will be 3 weeks post op Wednesday.

Since having my Naproxen and Advil taken away, I have been pretty achey breaky and have begun wondering if I am putting all of my ____ in one sock by choosing the surgery.  Is it really going to reduce my hip pain? My arthritus pain in my hands? Will it allow me to exercise without feeling like I'm gonna die so my abdominal muscles guit cramping when I take a crap?  Will I get any reasonable level of energy back?

These are the reasons I chose the surgey. I could be devastated if I feel the same way I do now!

Tell me its going to be alright!

Good for you Kevin. I had seen you at a support group meeting and was wondering where you were at in the process. I meet with Dr. C on 8-11 and am hoping to get a date then. I had been thinking lapband but have recently changed my prefrence to RNY and if she can do it with the DaVinci robot even better.

Guess my memory was faulty, I thought you had already had surgery.
Best of luck to you tomorrow. I hope everything goes well. I look forward to your future posts since I am hoping to have the same procedure in about 6-8 weeks.
