I think it's time for "the talk"...ABOUT NFL FOOTBALL!!!
Well my SF Giants aren't going anywhere...Oakland A's stink. Basketball has been long over (Sacramento Kings were terrible)...even the World Cup is finnishing up. Thought we could talk about the NFL for alittle while...Then in a few days talk about college football. How the change in conferences will effect the game.
So the 49ers were 8 and 8 last year...about where they should be. This is a make or break year for Alex Smith at QB...I think it's a break year. I can even see the team going backwards (below .500). Even with AZ quarterback Kirt Warner retiring, SF may still only be a fair team. The Oakland RAIDERS!!! have even more problems. No quarterback at all. Many NFL free agents don't want to go to Oakland (Al Davis). The team is looking for leadership on both sides of the ball and from the coaching staff and ownership. So what's going on with you're local team?? Brian
I hate what the owners have collobrated and are doing in prep for a CBA stalemate with the players next year. They are working together but I hoped they were smarter than to allow a strike and tick-off the fans. I do like the rookie cap concept; pay the veterans and known commodities that are beating themselves to a pulp to play the game at a high level and let the rookies prove their abilities before getting the big bucks.
The Jets with Coach Strasburg,..er umm, Ryan are fun to watch. I do like SF to take the west. Seattle has too much growing to do and AZ lost to much to, they'll be growing too. Singletary is a motivator and has guys belivieng as of last year. This could be a good year for them. MInnesota, NO and Dallas I think have too much depth, baring injury to not be the favorites though. Dallas has a killer schedule. If they get there, they will have earned it this coming year.
Oh I agreen the Skins are doing good things and have a gem in getting McNabb but I believe it will take some time to get the pieces working together. I also like Haslett at Def Coord. The I also figure Shanahan is a control guy and is destined to collide with Snyder in 2 maybe 3 years,..unless Dan has learned to take a step back or a lesson from Jerry and get a coach he respects and works with instead of making decisions (like Haynesworth) and leaving it for the coach to cleanup and try to make successful. We'll see. I think it could be between them and the Giants for a wildcard as they both have potential (Giants defense being suspect). I think the eagles have the most work to do with a new QB and interesting WR corp.
If the boys lose to the skins in the first week, its gonna be a long season with the schedule we have. They'd better hit the field with their heads screwed on straight and focused.
Good luck in 2010.
