It has been a long busy time
I have not been on and posted for ages. Life got the better of me with Buying a house and the craziness I live at work.
With everything that has been going on I have managed to stay with the program. Last I posted I was still in the 3 month fast track program for insurance approval. Well approval came in Feb of this year. After that I had to get specialist sign offs for Cardio, Gastro and Pulmanary. This took up March, April and May. Cardio was a little nerve wracking as I had to under go some major tests due to a funky EKG at my eval appointment. Well I got my final clearance on my Birthday, what an awesome present.
It then became the waiting game of getting on the schedule which happened about 3 weeks ago. I am slated to go in on the 16th of this month for surgery, which I am starting to get nervous about.
My doctor has a 2 week no carb period prior to surgery which I began last friday, but had been doing for about 3 weeks already.
I will admit that during the period of waiting for approval and appointments, with all the personal distractions and loss of a free fitness center I had gained some weight back, but have gotten back on to my walking routine every morning. and have since dropped all of what I gained plus some additional so I am feeling better about that.
The battle continues with the daily ups and downs, Today you loose 4 pounds tomorrow you gained 1, which is kind of depressing but I am making it work.
Next Stop is Emory at Johns Creek

Hold on and stick to your guns. Cold feet and that well meaning loving family or friend will deliver that "we don't want you to die during unneccessary surgery" speech. You are doing this to live longer and become more able to be active and participate in life rather than watch life from a chair. You are in the home stretch. I am 4 yrs post-op and the only thing I would have changed is deciding to do it sooner. Next stop, Emory at Johns Creek. Keep us posted.

Dr. Macik.
I did research on doctors and hospitals and the various procedures before making any decisions. I knew I wanted the best procedure for my situation, and from there it was just a matter of finding a doctor I was comfotable with and the right location.
At the time I lived 15 minutes from the hospital but moved a bit north so now it is like 30-40 minutes, but i believe it is the best place for it.

It's nice to have you posting. Remember that you can come here for support along your WLS journey. Do what your docs tell you to do. You may be fluctuating weight a bit now, but once you have the surgery you should lose weight quickly. Everything should work out fine. You may not even need a fitness center. Many of the men here get most of their exercise from walking, bicycling, and wven running. Walking is a good starting point. Aquatic exercise is good too especially in the hot weather.
Hey, even going into the surgery room I was still only about 55/45 to go through with this. I did, though, and hope the result is many more years of a higher-quality life. I plan to lose 130 pounds, plus sleep apnea, type II diabetes, sore knees, a cranky back, bad cholesterol numbers, and high blood pressure.
All in all, a pretty good trade.
