Pre-Op Status Update....
Finally had the upper GI today. i have to say the barium lived up to it's reputation. Near as I can tell everything came out ok (literally, pun intended), though the doc did say I had minor acid reflux. So Friday it's off to the cardiologist.
Meanwhile my weight has dropped to 419.5 or about 20 lbs since I made the decision to pursue WLS. So it figures that is creeping into my mind. How is it that I can lose weight without WLS? I am determined to get WLS and use it as the tool it is. I believe that it can help me get to my goal and assist me in staying there.
To perpare I am following the NUT directions. Though I am still eating more protein than proscribed. I have begun walking in addition to working out. Reaching for 40 minutes 3 times a week. I'll keep posting as things progress....

Yes sir. In fact I had just the same discussion with my best friend this week. He just lost a 100 lbs the good old fashioned way. Going from 340 to 240. He used a high protein low carb approach. (Ihave done this in the past). So normally from where he sits he wants to know why I just can't do that.
I explained that before I knew him I did do that. That I could do it again, what I can't afford to do is to fail again. Based on my past yo-yo I'b probably end up over 500 lbs. It doesn't escape me that the diet I am to follow post op is pretty similar to the one I should be following without WLS. In my mind it's all about using the pouch as a tool. It's a physical limit which can allow me some brething space while I change habits and lifestyle.

Also, I lost 33 pounds in in 3 weeks of the liquid diet. But like I said, LIQUID.
Plus I was walking 8 miles a day and biking another 15-20.
I was an unrealistic pace. I even thought, "WOW, should I have the surgery?"
But I knew, as soon as I started eating again, even if not crazy eating, and slowed down my exercises, the weight g would come back.
Just try and lose what u can Prue surgery. Statistics show those who lost the most Prue-surgery ,end keep that momentum post surgery because ur metabolism is so jacked.
Good luck.
