Hi Guys
i am a total newb to this surgery(RNY) as I amon day 5 post op and have now been home for less that 12 hours. So Far I know I have been lucky as pain has beeen minimal and I have been on full fluids for 2.5 days with no issues.
Couple questions
At this point I never feel hungry or full just kinda seem to be in neutral will this continue or is it more a matter of learning to recognise how I feel now? Also I used to lift wieghts a lot and in prep for this surgery I re built the exercise room in the basement, How long was it before you all couls start more intense exercises than walking( I know its the key exerciseand I will make it the centre of my program)

Thanks all and many more questions to follow I am sure
Ian

The not feeling hungry thing is a common question the first couple of weeks.  We have no nerve endings on our internal organs, so no pain, but we do have nerves and they have been severed.  It will take about 2 weeks for them to re-connect so you can get a full or hungry feeling, and during that time you may think that your surgery didn't work.  Don't worry about it that is normal.

I held off of regular work-outs for 3 months and didn't do heavy workouts until 6 months.  You do need to exercise, but your system is already in shock so you need to take it slow.  Try a little more each week.

Good luck and welcome to the losers bench.

My surgeon told me:

Lift nothing more than 10 pounds the first month.
Nothing more than 20 pounds the second month.
I am back to lifting weights and it has been 2 1/2 months.

Good luck!

So
I'm not sure I am getting the normal post op   cause I feel great and have done so since day 1. Today it finally stopped raining so i went for a 2 hours walk. No clue how far it was but yeahhope things continue like this cause learning how to get past the brain hunger is going to be tough enough.
Oh and i am down 10 pounds since they surgery as well. Been a good week
