4 month hormone dump?

Hello Gents,

I'm new and it looks like I'll be set for an August surgery date. I'm deciding between VSG and RNY ... leaning toards RNY.

I've been reading several posts on this section of OH. This is the only place and the first time that I've heard about a male hormonal dump at around month 4.

Can someone please detail this for me?

They are one in the same just NSV (Non Scale Victory) is gender neutral and FART (Fantastic, Awesome, Remarkable, Terrific) is used on the Men's forum.  These are the things that don't involve the scales.  Running a 10K, buying pants a size you have not seen since HS/college, playing with the kids, fitting in an airplane seat etc.

Your body during a rapid weight loss releases all the hormones that are stored in your fat.  The male body, and psyche, ain't ready for that ****!  Puts you on one hell of an emotional roller coaster.  Angry at the drop of a hat, depressed, paranoid etc.  As your weight loss slows to a crawl the release slows there by giving your mind, and body, a chance to catch up.  Will be a several month phase.

ESTROGEN!!  Yes you have some...No much, but it's stored in your fat cells.  As men drop the weight, the estrogen gets released...Sometimes they become very emotional...WLS men who have never been really emotional in their lives, all of a sudden get that way...and have no ideal what is going on.  They think they're falling apart...Men's PMS!!  But it passes as your weight starts to stablize.  Just be aware.

Yeah, even if you think you're ready for it, it can knock you on your ass, mine hit hard about 2-3 months but weight was just falling off me then.

One minute Id be happy, then Id be willing to fight over the anything, then I'd be woefully sorry about my outburst then, Id be fine again.  It passes, if you have a wife/gf/live in support people, just let them know it could happen.
