Good news gone bad

I posted that my wife finally got a job.  She went for a physical on Mon and they called back on Tues and said that she did not pass the physical and would not be getting the job.  They did not say why she didn't pass.  They didn't draw any blood.  My wife suspects high blood pressure because she was nervous.  But, who is denied an office job due to high blood pressure?

I've been on my wife's case for the past few years to go see a doctor and get checked out.  She hasn't seen an MD in over 10 years.  She's nearly 58 and I keep saying that if she has an illness such as cancer, she'd be better having it detected at an early stage.  She's just stubborn about this although her family does have a history of ovarian cancer.  I told her that she can fill out an on-line questionair with my new insurer and they would authorize a complet physical.  She's finally considering it.  If she has chronic high blood pressure, she should get that under control and take care of whatever ills she may have.

I'm sure in the up and coming years, companies are really gonna be looking at employees, present and future's health's to cut health expenses. 

That may be true, but she told them that she is covered on my health ins.  Due to a quirk in the law, it makes sense for me to keep her on my Fed health ins even if she were to have other coverage.  So, she is telling all potential employers that she is covered by my health ins.  As a matter of fact, her covcerage would continue until she dies--it doesn't end with my death.

I hope you have a nice weekend in Brick.  I've heard that the bay is having problems with algae due to lawn run-off.  That's one reason I refuse to fertilize my lawn. 

Rode my bike down to Spring Lake today. Nice wind outta the south. A little cool right on the beach. Beach was surprisingly empty.

But it's gonna be a hot one tomorrow.

It's interesting hearing you mention those places.  I've driven up there and walked around years ago.  I could go there now but not walk.  I do try to see some of the bay areas every year.  I make at least one day trip to the town of Barnegat on the mainland every year.  If I really wanted to go to the shore, my wife's cousin has a house on LBI.  But walking on solid ground is hard enough.  I wouldn't even want to try walking on a beach.

Without looking at a map, I kind of think your ride would be about 10-20 miles one way.  That's not bad on a bike in the morning.  I used to ride a lot while in college and 20 miles a night wasn't that bad in the countryside.  I wouldn't want to do it in North Jersey.  Of course, you are probably aware that "North" Jersey is a relative term.  I grew up in Central NJ, lived 5 years in Kearny, and have spent the last 30 years here in Willingboro.  Most of the people around here think tha Seaside is in North Jersey.

I looks lie it's going to be a hot week, so take your water bottle with you when you ride.  My brother does a lot of long distance rides and wears a water pack on his back wit a tube near his mouth for drinking.  Enjoy your protected fun in the sun.  Bob
